I'm so happy for Kaori! And her FP score was amazing!

ETA: Her skating was as well of course, I just don't feel like it was always recognized :)

So happy for Kaori!!! Her skating is just sublime. It's amazing how much she has grown as a skater. I'm not one to rave about skating skills, but Kaori is the first person I've seen since Patrick Chan who's really impressed me with hers. Also, her reaction after realizing she won is just so cute! I love the little goggle or wow eyes she makes. Kaori and hope she delivers the same brilliant performance at Worlds!

Late to the party, but a huge congratulations to Kaori on the Nationals win! I was surprised about the result, but a very pleasant surprise. Her and Rika are my favorite Japanese ladies so it was a happy 1-2.

Kaori's reactions were so cute, she's such a bright, happy girl, I can't help but root for her. Here's to hoping her 4CC and Worlds' outings will be great as well.

Kaori was really amazing (finally got to watch the FS).. she was in a very difficult situation, 3 ladies having over 220 points. She couldn't afford to make any mistakes.
But she was the best of them all! The best skate and the best reactions, too... :cheer::points::cheer:

Oh man it's emo time with Kaori ;-;. I will never fully grasp the amount of struggles she went through behind the scenes at the beginning of the season, I'm so proud of her from bouncing back from that initial slump.
On the other hand, I'm so pump that Kaori is thinking of taking Ballet lessons and emphasizing her choreography more, and excited to see where it will take her. Her character reminds be a bit of Midori Ito.

Kaori will compete at the 68th National High School Championships from January 24th-27th. Should be a good tune up for her before 4cc

Yes, but one minor point is that, for the inter-high school competition, it incorporates specifically the ISU FS rules for junior categories. This means the programs of all competitors have to follow the rules for junior (incl. only flip as solo jump in SP, and other restrictions). In this case, it's not necessary advantageous for skaters who are already competing in senior to change their program layouts. This is one of the reasons why Kaori had been jumping 3L-2T and practicing 3L-3T during Nagoya FS festival.

Oh I didn't know that. Will be cool to see her solo flip.

According to Twitter Kaori did 3Lz3T 2A 3F, scoring 73.75

3Lz3T tho??? I thought she'd go for 3Lo3T but I never expected 3Lz3T b/c of her edge issue, but pumped she's in first place!

Yes the protocol is here: https://www.jsfresults.com/National/2018-2019/fs_j/highschool/data1303.pdf

She only got ! for the 3Lz3T attempt, and with positive GOE. This might be a better choice than the 3Lo3T.

Glad she did well. Part of me was secretly hoping she'd bust out a new 3lo+3lo combo, but that probably wouldn't be too realistic, although I'd love to see her try a loop combo at some point, her solo loop is great. Anyway, good luck to Kaori in the fs, she will skate last

Kaori killed it! My favourite SP this time around. Her jumps are just wow! I want to frame her 3Lo and look at it forever.
