LOL, how true. Never mind that he's 32 years old and landing quads (2 in the short program!). Johnny's a year younger and never landed a quad in competition to my knowledge. Show "old man Menshov" some respect!

(And yes, I am a fan of Johnny's skating and love what he's bringing to the ice show circuit)

Weir's commentary on Max's free skate was revolting. Even Tara sounded a little shocked by how bitter and jealous it was. And that was all it was! Bitter, jealous, catty. Any time he said something that could be remotely construed as positive he qualified it with a "but..." and a negative comment. What has gone on behind the scenes with these two I guess we'll never know, but Weir's behaviour is, frankly, extremely unprofessional.

What I find interesting is how hard they were trying to put a crown on Gracie Gold for the ladies, but when it comes to the American men, they are reluctant to fully commit (well, Weir at least). Any idea why this is?

Oh, boo hoo. He's a commentator. His job is to give substantive critique, which he did and as far as I'm concerned it was spot on. I'm just disappointed there wasn't more objection to the component scores and emphasis on the stark difference in quality between Max and others.
