I think it will be a very interesting competition. I predict a fight between BS and WP for 1st/2nd and Shibs/MK for third!!! Excited to see what happens!

All the teams marked big portions of their SP (as is to be expected) so it is hard to get a real impression in some ways.

Laurence FOURNIER BEAUDRY / Nikolaj SORENSEN: Pretty costumes, very like an ombre sunset. RW pattern looks good.

Charlène GUIGNARD / Marco FABBRI: Ugly sailor costumes. Seemed a bit hesitant and slow generally.

Ekaterina BOBROVA / Dmitri SOLOVIEV: Parts they did looked good but she looked a little tired/out of breath- hope all is okay. Still wearing the white costume she was going to wear at Mordovian Ornament, not the pretty purple one she had earlier. Twizzles were more solid than we've recently seen them.

Ksenia MONKO / Kirill KHALIAVIN: The surprise of this practice for me- they look awesome!

Compared to what Chock/Bates came up with, Weaver/Poje's new SD seems positively boring, empty and cliche in every move. Looks like C/B worked with something they already had before the 'Dark Eyes' SD, whereas W/P really cooked something up quickly during those three weeks. We'll see how their SD looks in it's complete version at competition, but that is the first impression :disapp:.

MK looks awesome?! Hmmm... and the plot in Russia potentially thickens... can't wait for the competition.

I was at the practice and W/P looked
quite marvelous. Both SD and their amazing costumes. Shibs looked great too.

Weaver and Poje definitely "look the part" of Strauss Waltz with their costumes. Very striking. Kaitlyn's dress and "up-doo/swirled" hair and the colored vest beneathe Andrew's tux and tails looked inspired (if I may say) from Beauty and the Beast. The music is beautiful of course but there are quite a few cuts, including during some very familiar melodic sections which most lay people would know was altered. Their elements look solid with Andrew not making any mistake on his twizzles.

The Shibutani's were the only team to do a complete run through with all their elements. Maia is completely charming with her expressions as she goes between the doll and young woman character, something which was much easier to see live. Her arms and attention to detail with her leg lines and foot position are so graceful and precise. Set of 4 twizzles which drew applause. Very fast lift into the ending. The most cohesive program with chemistry and a story..

No video for Maia and Alex and Ksenia and Kiril?

I like the look of this new dress for Bobrova :)

Don't worry I found it. I know people have underestimated them in the past but I simply love the FD of P/I :)

Yes, I like PI. They didn't do well last year, and I kind of forgot about them, but I find Alexandra to be a very very elegant skater.

Also, I don't mind Bobrova's dress that much, not sure why their fans are complaining so much about the dress. I have definitely seen worse out there and she looks nice in it.

Thank you, shiroKJ. I didn't quite like her dress from afar, but after getting a closer look I like how elaborate it is.

I think it's not because her new dress is that bad (because it isn't), but because the first dress was more beautiful - a more striking color, less similar to the dresses of other ice dancers who are also doing classic style SDs. In this event alone also Weaver and Guignard are wearing dresses of similar color for SD.

Thanks for the summary of the practice. I am hopeful for both these teams! A little scary for Kaitlyn and Andrew pulling this SD out of the hat, but let's hope for the best. Love, love the Shibs and would love this to be a break-out performance!

After the practices I have to say I am most pumped about Maia and Alex's dances. I am a huge fan of W/P but I think they will have a hard time keeping people awake during the SD and the FD is what we know they are good at some nothing new there really, which I am quite sad to say. I know the Elvis routine is not everyone's cup of tea but I think it probably is a better idea.

If only WeaPo could have found a better song for the foxtrot maybe but I'm missin me some Elvis. At the very least the Shibs and B/S are a bit unconventional. But my word the FD's are so similar. These judges might need to slap themselves in the face ever so often to tell one team from the next. But all in all this group of ice dancers do look very strong. It's going to be an interesting competition despite my protestations to the contrary.
