This is unexpected... Stanislava wanted to go to Mishin as well, so it seems both had the same thinking. Which makes me to worry if Valentina is ok orwhat happened that both her top students went away at the same time.

I really hope he will work well with Mishin. Mika is very independent, but in the last years Mishin was more patient with independent skaters like Caro or Arthur. So, there is hope.

I confess that i expected more his move to Rukavicin, also in Petersburg.

"Harutyunyan is known for the fact that he is good at reanimating unsuccessfully developing careers and cooperation with Kolyada also bore fruit.Mikhail wanted to stay with Harutyunyan forever and, according to rumors, was not even against Chebotaryov. The transfer was prevented by the Figure Skating Federation, which refused to finance the costly Kolyada training in America and insisted on returning to Russia."

"The main star of Alexei Nikolaevich Evgeni Plushenko suggested that Kolyada go to Mishin in the spring of 2019. Then the master gave a clear answer, saying that he did not call the athlete to his group. According to Mishin, the initiative for collaboration should come from the student.
It has been suggested that Mikhail would never have decided to change the rink, but his wife Daria Beklemishcheva influenced Kolyada . Daria, as a former skater, saw that their work with Chebotaryova ceased to bring results and insisted on finding a new specialist . It is important to clarify that Beklemishcheva herself performed under the leadership of Chebotareva and perfectly understands the specifics of training with her."

I wonder if these two rumors are true......:scratch2:

I think atthismoment everything is speculation. What i hate is this „blame the wife“, everytime when a man makes a decision which is not popular....

On the contrary, I think this transition it's been accepted by most of the people, people have been glad to see this happened since his first success and fall. So, to this, I'm actually give kudos to Daira, for Misha, she is a great supporter.:agree2:

I don't see it as blame the wife. I see it as proof of great support and help in making an important decision. Maybe Misha thought it would be unfair for Valentina to go to another Russian coach and Daria convinced him it wouldn't be like that especially as she knew Chebotareva personally.

Also I'm willing to believe that Mikhail wanted to train with Rafael. RusFed rarely is willing to pay for foreign coaches. They paid for Yagudin but he was training with TAT, I/K got a green light because Sochi was supposed to be Russian-fest. Medvedeva only gets us much money as she got when training in Sambo and the rest she pays herself and she has powerful sponsors. I don't think it would possible for Misha to train in the US if RusFed didn't agree for coverage of almost all expenses

Anyway I hope that the new cooperation will be successful :)

Leaving the drama aside, I hope that means he's coming back for good :) Mishin is a good coach, and maybe Misha just needs a different approach.

Misha has nothing to lose. So glad he decided to change finally. Wish Msihin can bring him back the quad lutz.

Wow, I sensed a coaching change coming (even mentioned that in my previous post) but Mishin was the last on my list considering their history. Wow.
I frankly thought of Buianova or even Eteri and though the latter I frankly dislike or rather dislike her training approach I was beginning to think that maybe it would be good a mental preparation wise.
Oh I need time to digest all this I think!
But on the positive note, Mishin hardly can spoil Mika's jumping technique (in fact he was helping Valentina with it in the first place) and hopefully can stabilise jumps. The rest Mika can do himself (provided Mishin won't be watering choreo in his usual fashion...)
And above all I am just glad that he is not quitting skating!
I feel for Valentina though, what the hell could have happened between them? Or she can not work anymore due to poor health for instance, a few weeks ago I noticed that her name was absent from the list of all the coaches of St Petersburg Federation which was odd.
I hope we'll hear more soon from Mika himself.
Regarding his move to Raf, what I heard was different that the RusFed was willing but Mika himself wanted to go to Lambiel which was not met with approval. all hearsay - no proof.

I think Mishin is far better option than Buianova or Eteri. He is an excellent jump coach, won't do any harm to Misha's textbook technique and he allows foreign choreographers do programs for his students. I think out of all options Mikhail had in Russia Mishin might be the best

Plus, Mishin is in St Petersburg - much easier than having to move to Moscow. And it will be a nice change to have a male coach after 20 years of being surrounded by women - no offence
yet so many questions- will he be numero uno in Mishin's camp? Will Mika be able to keep his excellent SS & spins at same level as before. Who will do choreo for him?
All the questions though pale in comparison with the burning one - will there be the season at all...

Misha is a mature skater. His SS are pretty much established and I doubt they would deteriorate now. There's a lot of muscle memory. SS are the most basic skills for skater and he has an excellent foundation in this department. None of Mishin students came with such a solid base and he isn't famous for improving them so it's the reason why his camp has average skating skills. When it comes to spins I'm more worried about his back. Choreographers always make programs for top skaters with lvl4 included and it's up to the skater to do all elements properly to get these levels.

Mishin is agreeable when it comes to outsourcing so maybe Misha will work with Lambiel in the future. However he still has 2 programs he planned for 2019/20 season and I think he'll keep them

At least now, no one can say he didn't try changing coaches. I'm not mad. We'll have to see results. Mishin did an amazing work with Carolina, though. Even though she never reached consistency, her programs in these past seasons were fantastic.

From the coaches available in Russia, Mishin is far from the worst he could go.

Not a fan of last szn's programs. I wish he could have 2 new ones. But as long as he come back being competitive again, i am ok with everything.:luv17:

Agree that Misha has solid foundations in his skating skills, jumps and also performances. He just needs the consistency to execute elements when he's in competing mode. If Mishin can help him figure out how to approach competitions with a steel mindset, i think this partnership can go miles! There are just so much talent of Misha that is not being translated onto competition ice. I also don't think his acquired skills will suddenly gone deteriorate.

The more I think about this partnership the more I like the idea - I am actually surprised with myself as I am not the biggest fan of Mishin. What we have here is arguably the best jump coach in the world and one of the most naturally gifted jumpers ever graced the ice. What will be the result - I am intrigued!
Other aspect I feel hopeful about is mental preparation. Whatever Mishin may say before the start, those will be the words of the coach who sent off World & Oly champions thus it has to have more weight for Mika than anything Valentina had to say - just my opinion.
Glad the camp is in Kislovodsk - very benificial for Mika's nose :)

Apparently the camp in Kislovodsk is over and they should be back by now. I was hoping for some statement or interview from Mika but alas the silence is all we get.. sigh...
His VK is being updated with that little which could be gathered from Mishin's group media. Notably there is a short video of him doing 3lz -2lo - yes! there is no mistake the loop is back!
So many questions in my mind:
will Mishin try to fix his flip?
what quad will they be concentrating on - 4lz or 4sal?
what about his programs - will he keep the old ones which he practically never used
how is he getting along with everyone - he does look a bit tense to me in that video which shows a bit of interaction betweem Mishin & students. Wow, Mishin is actually on the ice skating !!
Well, we have to be patient for now I guess :(

Im actually happy about the Mishin change. Yes, Raf in summer would’ve been ideal (pre-Covid) and Lambiel for choreography, particularly given how he got Shoma out of his slump, would complete the dream team. But Mishin likes to hear himself talk, and is quite entertaining when he does, so we might get more updates than the media shy (and lower-profile) former coach. Also, Tuk who is VERY media savvy might get us a few glimpses (although she’s been careful not to include him, just mentioned he had passed by).

Some news at last: source - Tatyana Mishina, God bless her!

https://www.sportsdaily.ru/articles/mishina-o-kolyade-valievoj-figurnom-katanii-v-peterburge

Summary:
SP is choreographed by Tatyana Prokofieva
LP to be choreographed by Ilia Averbuch but as he has been very busy with his show, it hasn't happened yet, he is due to come to St Petersburg this week

Training goes well, 4T is back, working on 4sal and 4lz
No health issues so far
Mika will take part in the stages 3 & 5 of the Russian Cup - in Sochi & Moscow (both with Aliev )

Well, fingers crossed, all is well, a bit alarming situation with LP knowing that Mika takes his time to get into a program, and not a fan of Prokofieva's choreo, but hey who cares about the programs this season, as long as he is healthy and gets back his jumps!

Now, a little trip down the memory lane ... from the moment I heard of his move to Mishin, something was stirring in my mind, finally I remembered, of course, my first FS crush was a Soviet skater, Yuri Ovchinnikov, coached by guess who - Alexey Mishin! Watch this video and do tell me if I am mad and the height of jumps, the freedom of movement not reminiscent of Mika....:
