They looks sorta cute in the close ups, but these dresses are not the most flattering from a distance. They give the illusion of a big belly

Two falls for the Haydenettes so far, or does the pair falling together make it three? How common are falls in synchro?

It seems like it since they got -3 deduction.

What I've seen it's pretty common with falls. Often in the intersection element which looks very difficult to me.

For newbies like me, a frame of reference re Free Skate scores from Synchro Worlds 2015:

Again, just a frame of reference (these scores obviously are not from the GPF at hand):
1 Team Finland 1 FIN 143.67 67.88 75.79 9.50 9.29 9.43 9.61 9.54 0.00 #23
2 Team Canada 1 CAN 143.67 68.54 75.13 9.50 9.07 9.64 9.39 9.36 0.00 #22
3 Team Russia 1 RUS 137.23 64.73 72.50 9.25 8.71 9.21 9.07 9.07 0.00 #21
4 Team Canada 2 CAN 135.40 64.64 70.76 8.61 8.68 9.04 8.96 8.93 0.00 #20
5 Team Finland 2 FIN 133.33 59.78 73.55 9.07 9.11 9.25 9.29 9.25 0.00 #24
6 Team Sweden 1 SWE 132.03 64.03 71.00 8.89 8.96 8.57 9.07 8.89 3.00 #25
7 Team United States of America 1 USA 127.12 57.38 70.74 8.79 8.79 8.71 8.96 8.96 1.00 #19
8 Team United States of America 2 USA 117.06 52.62 64.44 7.82 7.96 8.29 8.14 8.07 0.00 #18
9 Team Russia 2 RUS 115.77 52.99 63.78 8.25 7.79 8.00 8.11 7.71 1.00 #16
10 Team Germany GER 113.39 54.77 58.62 7.21 7.14 7.54 7.43 7.32 0.00 #14

FWIW, at Worlds, I see that Team Sweden had -3.00 deduction.

ETA, I should have noted that 25 teams competed at Worlds. I copied above only the top ten FS scores.

Does she have to learn all the parts?

Generally all members of a high level synchro teams have to learn multiple positions of the program. It's also common for two skaters to "share" a part in the program - one may skate in one competition and the other will be an alternate, and at the next competition they will trade.

Tht's impressive. I mean for example it must be a big difference in being lifted or the lifter.

For sure. It's a requirement at both the senior and junior level that there must be sixteen skaters on the ice for a program, you can't have any less. So having well-prepared alternates in the wings makes sense in case of illness or a sudden on-ice injury.

I do not know anything about synchro, so I'm not commenting on the skating itself, but it seems so exciting and I'm loving all the face the skaters give while skating! They seem genuinely happy to be at GPF and it's so cute, aww. :luv17:

I just watched my first synchro program! Other than looking at the beautiful skaters, what else am I supposed to be looking out for? Was wondering how the technical scores were marked!:hopelessness:

Of course. There are more girls in a team (at least in Finland) than in skating SP or LP. Some are chosen for both SP and LP. Some skate SP or LP. And some might be left home. Rockettes has 24 women and only 16 skates in SP or LP.

It's similar to how the other disciplines are marked, with PCS and TES. Each element (block, wheel, line, intersection, lift, moves in the field, etc) has a base value depending on the level they are going for (senior teams aim for level 4), and then of course there's GOE given for each element which can be +3 to -3, as it is with the other disciplines.

Amazed to see Russia in first.

Rockettes' program was very inventive :clapper:

Is Nexxice the favorites?
