I wanted to start a thread where we could discuss the GPF, get even more excited than we already are, and share our hopes & dreams for this very surprising GPF!

NOTE: I phrased the questions as best I could to get positive responses, so please be nice! Please refrain from bashing skaters/posters or bringing up touchy topics that usually start fights.

Now the fun part!

QUESTIONS

1. Who is your favorite qualifier in each discipline?
2. Which discipline do you think has the best lineup?
3. Who do you think will win any/all disciplines?
4. Which finalist do you think has the best programs?
5. Which discipline do you think will be the most competitive/best-quality?
6. Which do you think will be the most unpredictable?
7. Which first-year-senior qualifier are you most excited to see?
8. Which comebacking qualifier are you most excited to see?
9. Who gets your best-dressed vote in each discipline?
10. If you are going to Barcelona to watch in person, who/what are you most excited to watch?
11. Will any of you be staying up all night to catch the action? (I certainly won't be...luckily it's at pretty good times. :2thumbs::bed:)
12. If you had a one-time-only GPF Genie :laugh2: who could make anything happen with the placements, what would your three wishes be?

You don't have to answer all of these-I know it's a lot, so feel free to pick which ones you like the best. Also, you can additionally answer any relevant questions for the JGPF if you like. May the insane GPF-hype begin! :dance2:

I'm going to try to wake up terribly early to watch the singles skating. In which I hope everyone skates a 'blinder' and nobody falls!

1. Who is your favorite qualifier in each discipline?

Ladies - Mao Asada
Men - Yuzuru Hanyu
Pairs - Yu/Jin
Dance - the Shibs!

2. Which discipline do you think has the best lineup?
I think that the ladies field will be quite the competition. Really anyone could be on the podium. People say that every season but this year it's especially true, no one really seems to be a lock.

3. Who do you think will win any/all disciplines?
D/R for pairs. Dance, probably Weaver/Poje. I want to say that Hanyu will win though Fernandez is competing at home as World Champ so I'm expecting some outrageous PCS. Plus he's probably going to deal with the pressure better than he did last season.

4. Which finalist do you think has the best programs?
I'm going to go with what I think are the best overall set of programs choreographically since that list is shorter.

Men - Yuzuru Hanyu
Ladies - Satoko Miyahara
Pairs - Yu/Jin
Dance - Shibs

5. Which discipline do you think will be the most competitive/best-quality?
Ladies

6. Which do you think will be the most unpredictable?
Ladies, Men

7. Which first-year-senior qualifier are you most excited to see?
Definitely Shoma Uno. I'm very happy that Satoko's finally made it in though!

8. Which comeback qualifier are you most excited to see?
Mao!

9. Who gets your best-dressed vote in each discipline?
Men - Uhhh this is hard. Javi's alright. I like Shoma's SP outfit a lot, Yuzuru's Ballade outfit is nice once you get over/ignore the yellow triangle things.
Ladies - Ashley and Mao
Pairs - Love Yu/Jin's costumes for both programs, unique and interesting design-wise without being silly. I like Stolbova's outfits. Cheng Peng's dresses are very pretty. Both of their partners need some work.
Dance - Cappellini/Lanotte look great

10. If you are going to Barcelona to watch in person, who/what are you most excited to watch?
Yuzuru Hanyu since, you know, NHK kind of happened. I want to see how he deals with the burden of that 322.

11. Will any of you be staying up all night to catch the action?
Very likely!

12. If you had a one-time-only GPF Genie who could make anything happen with the placements, what would your three wishes be?
Mao to get herself together and win, Shibutanis to win or at least place ahead of Chock/Bates, Yu/Jin to podium

Nice idea Layback11!

1. Who is your favorite qualifier in each discipline?

Jr Men: Chen and Aliev!
Jr Ladies: SOTSKOVA
Jr Pairs: Atakhanova/Spiridonov
Jr ice dance: McNamara/Carpenter and Loboda/Drozd.

2. Which discipline do you think has the best lineup?
Senior dance and junior men disciplines have really good line-ups.

Men: Hanyu
Ladies: Medvedeva or Asada on a good day of hers.

Jr Pairs: Atakhanova/Spirodonov
Jr ice dance: McNamara/Carpenter

4. Which finalist do you think has the best programs?

5. Which discipline do you think will be the most competitive/best-quality?
All senior competitions can be equally competitive/good quality. For winning I'll say men and ladies will be the most competitive ones.
Also in junior men any of them can win/medal.

6. Which do you think will be the most unpredictable?
Senior ladies - Junior Men.

12. If you had a one-time-only GPF Genie who could make anything happen with the placements, what would your three wishes be?
I have only two wishes:

Really enjoying your responses! And now I gotta chime in:

1. Favorite qualifiers?

Ladies: Gold/Radionova
Men: Uno
Pairs: Hm...hard, since S/H WD , but probably S/B or S/K
Dance: SHIIIIBS :luv17:

In juniors: Fedichkina/Honda, Chen, Samohin, McN/C, le Parsons, and IDK who any of the pairs are.

2. Best lineup?

Ladies, for sure.

3. Winners?

Sr. Ladies: Medvedeva
Sr. Men: Hanyu
Sr. Dance: W/P
Sr. Pairs: D/R
Jr. Ladies: Tsurskaya
Jr. Men: Chen/Aliev (Not sure)
Jr. Dance: McN/C

4. Best Programs?

Ladies: Probably Mao but I really like Gracie's too
Men: Hmm...Yuzuru has a great SP and Shoma has a great FS, so I'll go with that
Dance: Shibs. No question. #Uber
Pairs: I have NO idea
Jr. anything: McN/C (mountain trolls!!!), Fedichkina, Honda

5. Most competitive discipline?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say pairs.

6. Most unpredictable?
Men, for sure. It will either be a total splatfest or glorious perfection.

7. Which first-year senior are you most excited about?
Shoma!

8. Which comebacker are you most excited about?
Mao!
9. Best-dressed?

Ladies: Mao, Evgenia, Gracie
Men: Yuzuru, Javier
Pairs: Um...S/B, I guess
Dance: Shibs + C/L (I really want her FD dress !)

Juniors: Mai Mihara, Marin Honda, any of the ice dance girls with mint green SD dresses

11. Will you be staying up all night?

Sadly, no. I get fevers when I don't sleep enough, so I can't do that, or I would have to skip skating practice, and that would be sad.

12. If you had a genie...
First wish: A Gracie/Elena/Mao podium (in that order)
Second wish: for the ice dance winners to be the Shibs (sr.) and McN/M (jr.)
Third wish: Clean skates from all the men (that competition would be EPIC!)

You don't have to answer all of these-I know it's a lot, so feel free to pick which ones you like the best. Also, you can additionally answer any relevant questions for the JGPF if you like. May the insane GPF-hype begin! :dance2:

1. Ladies: Ashley Wagner
Men: Shoma Uno
Pairs: Kawaguti/Smirnov
Dance: I love Weaver/Poje but this year I don't really like their programs(especially free dance), so for now, I would say Shibs are my favorites
2. Ladies, but there are really strong skaters in every discipline
3. I have some prediction in my head, but I don't like saying them loud (I'm superstitious a little :D )
4. First finalist with great programs, which came to my mind were Shibs. I just love it, especially the free dance. I love it! From the others I like Ashley Wagner's SP, Shoma Uno's both programs and Kawaguti/Smirnov's both programs.
5. Most competitive ladies or men, I'm not sure. It is hard to predict the best quality. Men will all try to have most difficult elements, but it depends how clean their performances will be.
6. Same as the most competitive: men and ladies.
7. Shoma Uno, Satoko Miyahara, Evgenia Medvedeva, Seguin/Bilodeau
8. Mao Asada
9. In ladies definitely Medvedeva. Her dresses are simple, but really beautiful. Difficult question for men's competition. Maybe Shoma??? In pairs I like Yu/Jin and Kawaguti/Smirnov. Shibs and Cappellini/Lanotte in ice dance.
11. I'm at the same time zone as Barcelona is so not, I don't have to. But on Tuesday I'm leaving home at 6:30 am and I will come back after 10 pm. So I won't see anything live. In case I won't have any big homeworks for Friday I will watch it at the evening after I come home and at night. So actually it is possible I will watch at night.
12. This is the same as the number 3. I'm scared to say it so I won't say it :D

Great idea!

1. Who is your favorite qualifier in each discipline?

Mao (with Elena 2nd), Yuzuru (followed by Javi), Yu/Jin, usually WeaPo, but because I really don't like their programs as much this season, the Shibs

2. Which discipline do you think has the best lineup?

The men. Current WC, current OC, a 3x WC, the holder of all the records and the guy who had previous ones, the JWC, the guy attempting the most difficult jump ever landed - how do you top that? (And then Dice's beautiful skating too!) The other fields are great too, but not THAT great I think

3. Who do you think will win any/all disciplines?

D/H and W/P. It's soooooo difficult for ladies and men! I'd say Evgenia or Mao if she comes back in JO form. For the men, Yuzu looks like the obvious choice, but given that 322 also leads to a lot of pressure maybe home town boy Javi or Pat?

4. Which finalist do you think has the best programs?

SPs: Javi, Shibs and Yu/Jin. Most ladies have lovely SPs, but none stands out for me.
LPs: Yuzu, Shibs, Mao. No idea about Pairs.

5. Which discipline do you think will be the most competitive/best-quality?

Ladies or Pairs, because the men are probably going to be a disaster

6. Which do you think will be the most unpredictable?

Ladies and Men.

7. Which first-year-senior qualifier are you most excited to see?

Boyang!:cheer:

8. Which comebacking qualifier are you most excited to see?

Mao. But I'm also very happy to have Pat and B/S back!

9. Who gets your best-dressed vote in each discipline?

Javi, Shibs. Most ladies look lovely!

10. If you are going to Barcelona to watch in person, who/what are you most excited to watch?

EVERYTHING!! I'll have serious input-overdose and be completely useless at least 3 days after returning home :drama:
(but I'm actually more excited for practices than the comps... I'm just weird like that?)

12. If you had a one-time-only GPF Genie who could make anything happen with the placements, what would your three wishes be?

Sorry, I'll just cheat and make that non-placement related...
1. Everybody stays healthy and we have no falls and splats.
2. All the skaters skate well enough to be happy and proud of themselves - I want all smiles on the podiums!
3. I hope my seriously lacking throw skills aren't going to let me down even more than usually and my plushs and gifts will actually make it to the ice and not to the judges heads (no seriously, that would be great! :dbana: )

You don't have to answer all of these-I know it's a lot, so feel free to pick which ones you like the best. Also, you can additionally answer any relevant questions for the JGPF if you like. May the insane GPF-hype begin! :dance2:

1. Men - Javier & Hanyu, Ladies - Elena & Evgenia, Pairs - K/S & S/K (Russia), Dance - no favorites
2. Men
3. Hanyu, Elena, D/R, W/P...I guess. Only really confident about Hanyu though.
4. SP - Javier or S/K (Russia), FS - Hanyu or K/S
5. I don't know...the men are competitive but if best-quality means least splatty, then probably not the men
6. Ladies
7. Boyang
8. none?
9. Men - Javier, ladies - Elena, pairs - K/S, dance - no idea
11. not necessary, thankfully
12. A Javi/Hanyu/Boyang podium, a Russian pair winning gold, & nothing weird happening at the event (injuries/disruptions/etc)

JGPF: I won't go through all the questions again, but I'm almost as excited for the junior singles as the seniors! Esp. for Dmitri, Daniel, Alisa, Polina, & Maria :hap10:
