#AlaineForCanadianChamp2K16

In all seriousness, best of luck to Alaine and my other favorite Canadian, Selena Zhao. If she skates like she did at the US Classic, I'd say she could probably place 4th if none of the big names (Alaine, Gabby, Kaetlyn) made major mistakes. So I hope she skates to her potential and gets picked for Junior Worlds! :cheer:

I'm not asking for much but I'd love to just see 6 Canadian ladies land a simple 7 triple program but I think I'm dreaming..

Some more triple-triple combos in the short program would be nice as well!

If you go by what they have been doing this year so far there should be at least 5 ladies going for 3/3 in the short.

In regards to the ladies I wonder if Skate Canada might just wait to determine which two will go to worlds after 4CC this year. I mean the top 3 each have about the same chance of getting into the top 10 with the slight edge going to Alaine since if she skates her short like she did at Cup of Russia she could find herself skating in the final group. So it might be better to send the top 3 to 4CC where they can all be judged by the same international judging panel.

Not a bad idea Sackie!

Of all three top contenders, I believe that Kaetlyn has the most potential to place higher internationally, if she skates to her potential; I worry about her consistency and wonder which Kaetlyn will show up on competition day. Alaine's short is exceptional when she nails the 3/3 (sans UR), but she has yet to put down a decent LP this season. Gabby has brilliant moments but does have a habit of over jumping in competitions.

Consistency is key for the Canadian ladies and having 2 competitions to demonstrate this essential skill, would give SC the opportunity to make the best decision.

it wouldn't be a first... they did it when Amelie Lacoste won over Cynthia Phaneuf at Nationals... Cynthia was struggling that year but definitely had more potential at worlds... but unfortunately, she didn't do well at 4CC and Amélie beat her just by about a point or two and went to the WC.

So I wouldn't be surprised if they sent the top 3 and see who places better at 4CC.... I would be okay with sending 2-3-4 and have them fight for that second spot as well, mostly to give a shot to the 4th lady to skate at an ISU championship.... (which is crucial to earn points for world ranking) and giving the winner of Nationals a chance to train and rest and focus....

As long as we feel that the best two contenders are sent to the worlds, I will be happy... I think Kaetlyn is the better all-around skater of the three but if she is not in shape, I wouldn't want her to be given a spot... it's a tough one to call right now...

Kaetlyn says she is practicing better then ever....I hope she brings it to Nationals! If skated clean, she is our best lady by far. Go Kaetlyn!!

How did Alaine do in the warmup? I couldn't watch the stream because I was sleeping/trying to sleep after I found out that classes were delayed until 10:30.

Why am I getting flashbacks to the Junior Grand Prix Series...???

Just visited the Entries / Results page for the Canadian Championships, and found that Skate Canada have uploaded the detailed Time Schedules for all categories!!! :cheer:

And, you'll be pleased to hear that there are NO withdrawals in any category!!!

I'll add the link for the livestream to this post whenever it becomes available.

Here is the link for the Time Schedule:

she did her LP and went for every element unlike Kaetlyn and Gabby , missed her 1st 3Lz3T but then added it to her 2nd 3Lz, some tight landings but she fought for it and no falls as far as i remember, no 3A attempt and i think they changed her layout to 2+5, cant remember how it was before  and later she did 3Lz3TLo3Sal combo
