I saw Johnny in person at Junior Worlds in 2001 and he was the clear winner over silver medalist Evan Lysacek. He's an extremely talented young man. However, it was his singing that made me really like him. I am still shocked that with his singing and dance ability, that he hasn't put more effort into a singing career. Look at Elvis Stojko, He's on Broadway isn't he?

Here's a sample of Elvis singing "Let Me Be The One" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QADTPYwkPOQ

Here's Johnny singing "Dirty Love" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ASFU6magIs

How about Armin Mahbanoozadeh's Avatar LP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qysORp4-BVU

By the way, did Armin ever skate in shows? I remember seeing him playing piano as well. Does anyone know what he's up these days? I saw him skate at Nationals in 2011 and he was very good. Unfortunately, he was up against the very handsome Ryan Bradley, Richard Dornbush, and Ross Miner who were all spectacular that night. BTW, Armin is TINY! His Bio says he's 5' 7" but seriously, he was standing next to Ryan Bradley and he looked like a little kid.

Isn't he at MIT?

I don't know but, it wouldn't shock me if he were. Skating and playing the Piano at an elite level are two very solitary activities which take a ton of time and focus. It doesn't surprise me when skaters go on to the Ivy League. I did some checking and Armin actually attended Dartmouth College.

Mrbutyrskaya er I mean mrrice, I liked Armin, too, and these posts made me curious. I found this old icenetwork article during my search: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130604&content_id=49581606&vkey=ice_news

Also if Wikipedia is correct, Armin originally missed out on going to Dartmouth because he deferred too long for skating. So he went to University of Pennsylvania for a while then eventually got into Darmouth. It also says he's 5'5".

I liked his "Kill Bill" program. I'm going to have to find that one and watch it. :)

Oh Weathergal........You know me all too well. I Looooove being called Mrbutyrskaya. Thank you for the link to the article on Armin. It's interesting to read about his decision to stop skating and focus on his education. It was also nice to read that he spoke with his Parent's and thanked his coaches for guiding him through his very successful career. It was a very difficult decision for me to stop auditioning for "On Screen" projects but, I had a very successful career as a 'Studio Vocalist" and when I look back on my decision, I thankfully have no regrets.

I think some people underestimate how taxing it can be to live out of a suitcase for months, and in some cases like mine, years. This is why I have so much respect for any skater who even makes it to nationals, even if they never get on the podium. I love watching Mariah Bell perform and if she retired tomorrow, she'd still be one of my favorite performers and she hasn't won a medal at Nationals....Yet. ;)

We got to see Armin skate in several of Mike Weiss' foundation shows. Also @ one of the spring club shows @ University of Delaware, and IIRC, @ a "Holiday on Ice" show @ the University of Pennsylvania a few seasons ago.
