Jeremy Abbott - Eight Seasons. Gentle reminder that difficult transitions in a program existed before Hanyu!!

Just watched this one...you're right about the transitions , did he just start taking them out in the past few years? That was a super good Jeremy performance. -The music's a bit dull, but the skate was confident and interesting.

Julia's SP at the 2012 JWC is one of my all time favorite short programs. It's just executed with so much purpose and her posture is a mix of confidence and balletic qualities. The 2a is such a highlight that I'd call it a 2a sequence. I love the way they worked some choreography into the spins too. As she goes to grab what appears to be a Biellmann she instead lets go right at the music break and then goes into the iSpin.

Maybe it's not the most underrated program but I think it's certainly under appreciated. I bet there are all sorts of fans who follow ladies skating who've never seen it.

I read this as my favorite under-rotated programs. My favorite under-rotated program is Ashley's Moulin Rouge. Under-rotated but improving.

Definitely Mao Asada's 2014 Olympic freeskate! If I'd known nothing about the short program results and saw all the freeskates without the scores, I would have bet money this was the gold medal winning skate. I rarely call "wuzrobbed" but Mao's PCS was insultingly low and it's pretty clear to me that she was being penalized for not making it into the final group. I would have expected that under 6.0 but there's no excuse for that under IJS.
Enjoy the masterpiece that was that performance!

While this specific performance was great, I would actually call it one of the most overrated programs of hers: as much as I love Mao and her skating, this program just seemed dull if compared to Swan Lake o to Madame Butterfly. It has one of the best step sequences in Ladies ever, but apart from that the rest is quite insignificant I'm afraid. I really wish she hadn't had the two FSs of hers I liked the least in the two Olympic seasons :sad4:

OK, we all know that Maria Butyrskaya is my favorite skater but, when she didn't skate well, she knew it, and so did I. Michelle did not skate well at Worlds in 1999 however, she skated her "Lamente D' Ariane" perfectly somewhere with Sandra doing the commentary. I just don't remember where I saw her do it. She also skated very well at Nationals having 1 fall after landing her triple triple.

Unfortunately, for all the skaters who attended Worlds in 1999, Maria had the skate of her life and I don't think anyone could have beaten her.

Reading the Ekaterina Gordeeva thread inspired me to re-watch the 1994 Olympic Pairs competition and wow! Mishketenok & Dimitriev's Rach II is absolutely stunning. It's perhaps a bit of a stretch to consider it under-rated since it won Olympic silver, but it was a lovely rediscovery for me, so I have to share!
