2016 Russian Jr. Nationals Ice Dance

The 2016 Russian Junior Championships (Russian: Первенство России среди юниоров 2016) will be held in Chelyabinsk from January19-24, 2016. Competitors may qualify by competing in the Russian Cup series' junior-level events. The results in part are used to select the Youth Olympic Games and Junior Worlds teams.

Oh, Sam! You crack me up! :laugh:

Just as a caveat. A week ago, I looked up the Facebook profiles of 2 girls I know (I knew their birthdays were coming up, and I wanted to check the dates). And, perhaps unsurprisingly, I ended up having a dream which featured both of them. But that was 2 days later!!! :laugh:

Now, that is a song I never thought I would hear at a figure skating competition: "Iko Iko"

Didn't really go with the second song in the medley (Don't know what it was, but I liked it).

And as for the third song, I don't think anything would go with it! :laugh:

(Don't know what it was, but I didn't like it at all!)

But, in a strange way, although the combination of music was rather odd, the routine worked.

Sofia Shevchenko and Igor Eremenko. What can you say?

A medley of different versions of the "Pink Panther" theme tune, none of which I liked.

Her dress was really beautiful, but given the theme, it seemed odd that she was wearing a prodominantly black dress. The only sign of pink was a bit of pink ribbon hanging in the slash in the skirt part (I'm a guy, I don't know the proper terminology!)

And he was in full formal dress, which also did not suit the theme.

I'm not saying they should have done like Savchenko / Szolkowy and gone the full hog with the costumes. But, perhaps half way there would have worked better.

Nevertheless, the skating was good, and they went into 2nd with 8 to go. So, guaranteed Top 10 place!
