Still one week left for pairs. This competition is going to be exciting and IMO it is the most suspenseful discipline this year. Hope every pair to stay healthy and fit.

Here is my Pairs´ short program prediction:

1. Volosozhar/Trankov
clean and high 3Tw4, perfect 3S, 3FTh maybe twofooted, superior steps and lift, normal spin and DS only level 3.
program with a lot of speed and power, perfect timing and masterly interpretation, really high PCS, maybe bombed
Keypoint: 3FTh, maybe trouble at DS Points: 42,5 + 37,5 = 80

2. Sui/Han
clean 3Tw3/4, maybe trouble at 3T, best and perfect 3FTh, superb lift and normal spin, DS and steps
some dramatic and intoxicating moments, but no magic or flow. not the very best skills, good PCS
keypoint: 3T Points: 42,5 + 35,5 = 78

3. Stolbova/Klimov
low 3Tw2, good 3T, great flow out of the 3FTh, normal lift, stunning steps and Spin, good DS
well-defined choreography and amazing performance with best transitions, greal good timing and catching the space, high PCS
keypoint: Will they make little mistakes like in the past? Points: 40 + 37 = 77

4. Duhamel/Radford
clean 3Tw3, maybe trouble at the big 3Lz, clean but unattractive 3LzTh, very good lift, good spin, steps and DS
emotional program with heart, nice interpretation, maybe a bit artifical, some moments free from tension, good PCS
keypoint: 3Lz Points: 41 + 35 = 76

5. Savchenko/Massot
unbelieveable 3Tw3/4, twofooted 3FTh?, closely spaced 3T, great lift and DS, normal spin, slow steps
very nice interpretation and choreography, very creative transitions, bit slow but surely, good PCS
keypoint: Will Bruno hold his nerve? Points: 40,5 + 35,5 = 76

6. Tarassova/Morozov
very high 3Tw4, uncertain 3T, maybe doublefooted 3LoTh, good steps and lift, normal DS and spin
a bit disadvantangeous music, good skating skills, speed, some insecurities, no emotions, normal PCS
Keypoint: Will they make a hard mistake at the throw or jump? Points: 38 + 33 = 71

7. Scimeca/Knierim
very nice 3Tw4, maybe big trouble at 3S, good and high 3FTh, good DS and spin, lift and normal spin
nice fire, a bit artifical, good interpretationen, some insecurities, not the best skills, normal PCS
keypoint: 3S (fall?), crowd bonus Points: 38 + 32 = 70

What's the latest one can withdraw without hurting the number of placements to be secured for the next year?

I am expecting at least two withdrawals to be announced any minute.

Withdrawals are common enough that they can usually be anticipated with some level of certainty. However, that is not always true. You seem very confident that it will happen; are there particular skaters you have in mind?

(I'm thinking that, if anyone, it'll be Stolbova/Klimov and, outside of pairs, Denis Ten.)

Mostly Russians: V/T and S/K here. And I am also thinking some ladies lineup shake up in the last minute.

I don’t know exactly what you mean. But if Volosochar/Trankov and/or Stolbova/Klimov or any others withdraw, it's my understanding that substitutes can step in until the SP starting-order draw.

Why so negative? Klimov's injury. I really hope both pairs will compete.

Best of luck to Team Russia. Hoping we see a fully fit S/K on the ice. It will be interesting to how S/M perform and are scored here. The draw seems a bit unusual, for the Italians M/H are drawn 3rd, when DM/G are drawn 14th. I really think DM/G have stepped up their performance level this year and are really challenging for Italian number 1.

The short programmes have all been very high quality so far so hopefully the Pairs keep this trend going.

Does anyone know the pairs practice groups for tomorrow morning? Are they the same as the practice groups from earlier? And we can still come and watch Them with the practice ticket right?

I believe that Astakhova/Rogonov are in Russia so if both V/T and S/K WD that would leave only Tarasova/Morosov and Russia would likely be down to 2 spots. Russia's already not having a great Worlds and they have so many good pairs that 3 spots is not even enough.

S/K might WD but fingers crossed they don't because I miss them :drama:
IMO V/T won't WD unless they are seriously injuried. If they didn't want to skate at Worlds they would have just said so!
