As Pairs has just finished, it seems time to start gathering info for next year's spots. JGP spot allotment listed is based off the 2015-2016 announcement assuming no changes (since there haven't been any in a while).

2016 Pairs Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1516/wjc2016/CAT003RS.HTM

2017 World Junior Championships: Pairs

3 Spots

Czech Republic: (1, only team, up from 1 spot)
Russia (2+3=5)

2 Spots

Ukraine (4, only team, up from 1 spot)
USA (5+9 = 14, down from 3 spots)
Italy (6, only team, up from 1 spot)
Canada (7+8 = 15, down from 3 spots)

2016-2017 Junior Grand Prix: Pairs

3 Entries in 4 Events - Top 4 placing countries

Czech Republic (1)
Russia (2)
Ukraine (3)
USA (4)

2 Entries in 4 Events - Non-top-4 placing countries making the FS

Italy (5)
Canada (6)
Great Britain (7)
China (8)
Kazakhstan (9)

All teams made the FS, so there aren't any countries that can send 1 team to each of 4 events. Any other countries who wish to send Pairs to the JGP can send one team to each of 3 events.

I noticed that you provided this useful information in the thread for JWC Men's FS.

I love this new thread (because it is more easy to revisit the place) and your cute puppy avatar. :cool2:

Thanks! I figured it was convenient to post the info right after the event in the actual thread, but agree that having its' own thread makes it easier to find later.

And thanks. The avatar was a result of me looking for a cheerful picture after there was drama during competitions.

... is this accurate that the tiers are the same? Is there are reason for different tiers if so?

Well done Sondre! How many times can one skater compete? Three? I wish Sweden could buy spots from Norway

Russia (2+16=18, down from 3 spots)

Pretty sure that only Sotskova's results count for next year's spots -- so Russia should have three spots.

I'm turning into a broken record, but Alisa's results are not counted at all. She does not get 16 placement points.
The reason is that she placed in the top ten in the SP ... before withdrawing from the FS b/c of injury.

I quoted this rule yesterday at the end of the Junior World Ladies SP thread.

I think Russia is still keeping its 3 spots because:

"However the Competitors who withdrew because of:
- illness or injury, (provided this illness or injury is certified by the
ISU Medical Advisor) or
- unexpected damage to the equipment during the warm up or the
performance (provided this damage of the equipment is certified by
the Referee),
are not considered as entered for the purpose of this Rule if they did not
start or finish the Free Skating/Free Dance, but were among the top ten
(10) in the Short Program/Short Dance."

Is it possible for S. Korea to get unused slot for the Ladies? or is that only reserved for the B-countries (US, Latvia, and Hungary)

That largely results from them only sending 1 pair when they were eligible to send 3 thanks to Yu/Jin's win last year.

some of their pairs broke up, i dont know if there are any other age eligible pairs but coulnt compete cause they didnt get min TES for JW

It seems Tsurskaya is counted as she WD after the draw: "Competitors are considered entered if they participate in the initial draw." thus she counts as "Competitors who were entered for the Short Program/Short Dance, but did not qualify for the Free Skating/Free Dance, will be awarded 18"... am I right? I mean, I hope I'm wrong... :hopelessness:

And "If an ISU Member entered three (3) Competitors in a discipline of a Championships, only the two (2) best placed Competitors will count for points", so Tsurskaya does not count because of worst result of three (WD before SP).
