Since one of our hottest topics have been costumes lately, what do you think the best costume you have seen for a warhorse piece? It's nothing to do with the best skater or the best most perfect program, but the costume that you thought represented the music/story the best.

If you want to you can separate by discipline since men and women or partners can tell different stories (eg a Romeo costume and a Juliet costume)

My favourite Sweet Charity/Fosse themed costume has to be Kaetlyn Osmond's from 2013-14, hands down. It drove me crazy when everyone was complaining that this outfit was "too sexy"; maybe watch The Rich Man's Frug and then you'll understand the costume? :confused2: It's 100% true to the movie, as is the program's choreography; it opened my eyes as to how excellent of a performer Kaetlyn is. :yes:

I have not seen that one :slink: and will have to go check it out.

EDIT: I looked it up and I wouldn't say it was "almost identical," but the colors and some aspects of the design were definitely the same.

Sasha Cohen is pretty much the dark horse queen, and had some gorgeous costumes.

Oops, none skated to the music AFAIK. Several skaters skated to other works of Vangelis though such as "1492: Conquest of Paradise". As I compiled the list from several articles about warhorse music in figure skating, I obviously might've put the name by accident. I need to revise the list now. I also look forward to seeing that main theme music performed by skaters someday. :)

She is indeed! I also loved their Fledermaus and My Fair Lady costumes (especially the lilac bejeweled and the Olympic pink dress for Meryl).

And how could I forget to mention Mao Asada’s fabulous Madam Butterfly dress from this season? It’s thematically accurate, but at the same time beautiful and elegant (which doesn’t happen often when skaters try to hint at a type of outfit not suited for athletic pursuits). The fabric seems light and soft, pleasant to the touch. The color scheme, from very light to more color-saturated lilac is exquisite. Accessories – the belt and the hair-piece – are again both beautiful and authentic-looking, and harmonize perfectly with the dress’s color scheme, with their dark lilac and silver. The butterflies on the dress is another nice touch. I’ve seen countless programs to this music, but I think I’ll remember this costume as the definitive one and mentally compare all the subsequent ones with it and most likely find wanting.

I also agree that Elena Ilinykh black swan costume was fantastic, as well as the best fs version of a ballet skirt I’ve ever seen!
