Olivia SMART (born 1 April 1997) and Adrian DÍAZ (born 17 September 1990) are ice dancers who represent Spain. They teamed up in December 2015. Smart is a three-time British national junior champion (2012–14) and competed at three World Junior Championships, reaching the top ten in 2014 with former partner Joseph Buckland. She was released by Great Britain in Jan 2016 and obtained Spanish citizenship in July 2017. Díaz is a four-time Spanish national champion with former partner Sara Hurtado and has won four senior international medals. Hurtado and Diaz were the first dance team to represent Spain in ISU competition and the first to qualify for the Olympics.

The team of Smart and Diaz are three-time Spanish champions (2017-18, 2019-20 and 2021-22). They won bronze at 2021 Skate Canada, their first GP medal. They placed 8th at the 2022 Winter Olympics, the highest Spanish ice dance placement ever.

They are currently coached by Marie-France Dubreuil, Patrice Lauzon, Romain Haguenauer and Pascal Denis, in Montréal, Canada.

:cheer: Thanks for the new thread! I think Sara and Adri used to have a fan thread, but since they are now both with new partners, it's time for new threads.

Is it just me or has Olivia noticeably improved? Anyway, I find their SD very interesting and I wish them all the best.

I just saw their SD for the first time and I really love it. These two already have a lot of personality and connection together on the ice, it's going to be interesting to see what they can do going forward!

Second place :sad21:. But their FD is beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6j6GN12j9w&t=3s. I guess they were very nervous.
SD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEZhvU2FdjI&t=30s no sound.

FD is beautiful, but Sara & Kiril deserved to win. It's really to sad that Spain, due to Sara & Adria split, has lost second spot at Euros. I also hope Sara & Kiril will get back the second spot, so whichever team win next season, both will have a chance to compete in ISU championships.

Yay, they absolutely deserve it! Their score at Bavarian Open was the highest by a Spanish ice dance team ever, it would have been madness to not send them.

HieloEspanol said that when he told Adri he started to cry - I get the impression from a lot of people there has been a big perception that the federation were supporting H/K much more, so it's wonderful to see that Olivia & Adri are getting this opportunity.

Awwww . I know that the decision is controversial, but if USA and Japan make controversial decisions, why not Spain? :p. I agree that the score of Bavarian was really good, considering that there is not spanish judges at that competition. Unfortunately, with all this + the olympic spot dispute they probably will be very nervous at the competition (worlds) :(

Marie-France, Patrice and Romain will have a big group at Worlds this year. Tessa and Scott, Gabby and Guillaume, Madison and Zach, Laurence and Nikolaj, Mari-Jade and Romain and now Olivia and Adria. Six teams, which means lots of MF in the kiss and cry, so everybody wins ;) . It's unfortunate that the decision involved some controversy, but I'm happy for S/D and I think they are probably the best choice.
