For a country that many didn't want to be there, Russia isn't doing too badly with 10 medals. And look at the sheer number of bronze medals that Japan has!
Hey, I just had a thought. If Canada could win half a dozen more medals and jump up into the Top 4 or 5, we would have all the top figure skating countries at the top of the table!
Come on, it was worth a try to link it into skating!

Germany should have great possibilities (apart from throws in athletics) in canoe/kayak/rowing, women soccer and cycling track. I also expect something in equestrian disciplines
Hey! You are considering Italy not a major powerful outstanding magnificent skating country
Yeah, I thought about Rowing saying it will change soon Of course Athletics too, but that's a bit later. I will watch rowing/canoe/kayak closel since Poland often win at least one medal
Italy is on top in FS, too! I guess equally with France? So not only Canada, but also France would have to do better I'm jealous of how good your country is so far at Olympics, but in a good way!
I said, first week is the best (because of some traditional disciplines)... after... well we'll have to suffer. Before the Olympics many newspapers were predicting an exit from final top10 standings, which would be very unacceptable but honestly in step with the crisis (not only financially) sport is having here. But... the government needs a good "commercial" to support the 2024 Olympics bid... So I think till now everyone is pretty happy with the result so far.... *end of complaint*

I know, Australia haven't quite got to the winning stage yet. But they will be soon!
I 've never expected Japan to beat New Zealand in men's rugby 7
