Does anyone know RANEPA? It’s surprising that Alina chooses Journalism rather than sports related major.
Good luck to her!

Good luck to her!

Most likely this is one of the schools she applied. I have the feeling the other schools she applied are also non-sport-related except possibly one as security. By September we will know where she wants to study.

"We must produce and approve an attractive image of our country" - here is a quote from Igor Bartsitsa, Director of the IGSU RANEPA about the direction of the bachelor's degree" Producing and cultural policy".

I think Alina fits perfectly into this concept, she herself perfectly creates an attractive image of Russia.

Alina and leading specialist of the faculty of journalism of RANEPA Maria Bazaleeva.

This is the real example for the phrase " if life gives you lemons, make lemonade". It was really smart to use the off-ice time during the pandemic and to concentrate on her exams in order to get into university. The specialty she has chosen kind of surprised me, I always thought she would do some training for a coach or similar, but I like it and I think journalism and public work definitely suit her.

EDIT: I had a bad day and those news really made me happy. Wish her all the best!

A very good interview!
In US (maybe other countries as well), when a high school student applies for admission to colleges/universities, the applicant is usually required to write an essay about himself/herself, his/her choice, and his/her goal. Some ivy league schools even arrange an interview between the applicant and some alumni.

Alina has done a good interview, and what she said can be easily incorporated into her essay. She would be accepted by any university, I think.:)

Love this part:

For example, after the Olympics in Pyeongchang, I was asked many times: "Are you glad you won the Olympic Games?" I don't even know what these journalists wanted to hear ... "No, this is too much for me"? Of course I'm glad! How else? It's the Olympics!

I still remember Alina looking at the journalist who asked her this question at Peyongchang with disbelief

Seriously, that's the dumbest question ever :palmf:
