I bet Eteri uses it as an opportunity to meet Diana.

Hopefully. Mom/daughter must have missed each other. It is not easy when your 16 year old daughter lives far away from you.
Just checked Eteri's Wiki: "Her daughter, Diana, was born on 16 January 2003 in Las Vegas." - didn't know this before. I remember Diana trains somewhere in Michigan, and that would be a four-hour's flight.

Yes, by applying ius soli Diana has US citizenship and could represent USA theoretically :) Since summer she trains in Novi with Igor Shpilband.

For czech users - I've discovered only now that Czech TV will broadcast part of the GP programs - as for Skate America it would be both men programs (of course, Březina) and Ladies free program - Anna (that's why I'm posting it here).

Just back from the Skate America practice!

Anna appeared while the ice dancers were practicing to look at the rink, and then she got a hug from Rafael Artunian who was standing by the boards. :luv17:

From the practice, she's planning 4Lz +3T and 4Lz in the FS. In the run-through she landed the combo and fell on the solo quad. It looks like her 4Lz hit ratio is about 50%.

After the practice I spotted Anna walking back to the hotel by herself, and I was tempted to try to get a photo, but then I remembered the unpleasant incident with Aliona last weekend so I decided not to bother her (even though I'm a girl)...

Whoaaah... lucky.. keep us posted.. :agree:
Wow, she was walking alone to the hotel? Her mom's not there I guess this time.. you should have totally got the photo, I think she's used to attention from Japan..

Well, if she can land that combo internationally, that would be huge of course, fingers crossed...

She was walking alone?! Back to the hotel through a casino or was she walking outside in the strip? In all the times I’ve been to Vegas, I’ve not been compelled to walk anywhere outside the hotel without at least my brother or sister. That’s kind of... concerning.

No, no, it's basically the length of a hallway from the arena to the hotel, and there were a ton of other skaters walking back too. But Anna wasn't walking with anyone else.

And I'm at practice right now and Anna's parents (both of them) are sitting in the row behind me  so I'm sure she's fine.

Oh my gosh, that is so cool!! I would probably be freaking out if that happened to me lol!

Anna did a bunch of different combos in practice today, but it seemed like she had a little difficulty with the 3Lz+3Lo from the spiral transition. The 3Lo kept going off at a weird angle though she got one off cleanly in the run-through.

She also tacked a 3Lo onto the 3F which she had to step out of. Otherwise easy easy jumps.

I remember Eteri telling a story how when she was five, she was travelling alone through the whole Moscow by subway to her training site and back home :)

Okay. That makes more sense. I know the hallways and indoor interconnects between the hotels are all really safe, so much so that even kids that can’t be more than 7 or 8 run through them unsupervised, but the outdoor strip... yikes.

I don’t know if the Moscow culture with kids is different, but in the US I think we have such a large human trafficking problem, especially in cities like Vegas, that maybe other nations don’t realize, so it’s always best to be vigilant. But given what is going on with Aliona I’m sure she’s safe.

I’m wishing luck to her, and I hope her nerves calm and she can get those combos and the 4Lz clean in her performances!
