Hm, I can tell you who won´t win the Ladies of course this would be rude, so I will just say that they all have good things to show, does this help?

But on a more serious note, the Japanese, Russians look strongest, but I like the little Kazakh who is coached by Mr. Orser, she is a lovely skater.

I wasn't in the mood for starting into this yesterday afternoon, and then was far too tired last night. So, I got up early this morning, and ended up getting distracted by another thread! As a result, I didn't get the Ladies done as I intended.

With the Men, I did go to the bother of doing the full process. And I was a bit concerned after ordering them by ISU PB’s, because the guy I was intending to put in second (Torgashev) was down in 5th, and a good bit behind the guy who was in 2nd by ISU PB (Erokhov). Thankfully, when I went to the absolute PB’s, Torgashev jumped up to a comfortable 2nd.

Cha Jun Hwan’s score from the Yokohama Junior Grand Prix a few weeks ago was well in front of everybody else. Until you went to fskate.ru. Using the scores on there, the guy who finished 6th in Yokohama (Kovalev) and was 4th on the Stats On Ice PB list would jump to the top.

Seeing as I liked him in Yokohama, I decided to change it.

The other Russian, Erokhov (who was 3rd on the Stats On Ice list), actually had a lower score on fskate.ru than the one that earned him the bronze medal in Yokohama. So, he remained behind Torgashev.

Panniot and Rizzo were the only other entrants who had broken the 200-point barrier. And there was only 2 points between them. Admittedly, both of their absolute PB’s were not as recent as the others in the 200 club. But I didn’t feel the need to move them down. Sumoto, who had the next highest absolute PB, was 12 points behind Rizzo.

Next on the absolute PB list was Josh Brown, who appears on CBBC documentary series “Ice Stars” (the second series of which starts on Tuesday – see here), and then the North Korean that Doris was telling us about.

In Ice Dance, we must have the most spread out field we’ve had for a long time!

Admittedly, Schwendinger / Wunderlich and Abdedou / Antunes have absolute PB’s that are VERY close. Only 0.1 difference. This German partnership really does like keeping very close to French partnerships! (We had a similar situation with a different French partnership at their last Junior GP, the Tallinn Cup!) These two couples have only come up against each other three times before, and the Germans beat the French on all 3 occasions. So, when you add in that the Germans had the slightly higher absolute PB, I kept them ahead.

The only other couples that had close absolute PB’s were well away from the points scoring positions. So, I didn’t bother investigating and instead moved onto the next category (Men).

I’m going to break away now and have my breakfast. The thought of 38 entries in the Ladies competition really intimidates me!
