It will take quite some time to watch them all skate, :hap10:

Agnieszka REJMENT

very curious how she has improved, I remember how she was a bit clumsy two years ago but I saw great potential! The practice will start at 7:30 AM local, I should be there to support them all, but who will serve me my breakfast I wonder :scratch2:

Well, the last JGP of the season. Four of the first 6 JGP events saw the US finish behind only Russia/Japan/Korea, but 2 of those events saw the US fall further, finishing behind the "big 3" and falling to Finland and Germany. I wish Nina the best and hope she can perform at a higher level than last year. It is always important to see year over growth.

If the USFS was truly interested in getting as many up and coming skaters the necessary experience, the rational selection would not have been Nina. In her JGP debut last year, she did not even earn her TES Jr. Worlds minimum for her FS (only 31). Unless I'm mistaken, very possible and likely, every other US JGP competitor last year and this year earned those minimums. If the USFS was trying to give experience to as many skaters as possible and Nina was unsuccessful in posting the min # last year, why assign her to her second JGP over other potentially qualified skaters? Why not give the assignment to another skater in the ISP who has earned the right to compete? This would be providing other young skaters with valuable experience and placing a solid foundation for the rebuilding process.

She hasn't done well in home competition, which was approximately 4 weeks ago :( http://www.pfsa.com.pl/results/1617/WAW0916/SEG010.HTM

Who would you have sent over Nina, then? Looking at the available substitutes, I wouldn't be able to make a specific choice. All the age-eligible skaters competing Junior this season who have higher summer scores than her appear to have gotten an assignment. If Starr Andrews had been on the ISP early enough to add to the subs list, I'd say send her but that didn't occur. I'm curious as to who you would send since I have no idea who I would.

Well, there may be some breakdowns in the process or just differences of opinion as to what might be best for the future of US Ladies Figure Skating. Is it prudent to focus on who has higher summer scores to determine who is sent to the last JGP of the season? At the junior level, I am not one to look at club placements/scores, I focus more on actual performances, skating skills, choreography, technique of jumps, transitions, etc. For example, I was always saying Vivian is wonderful but will not go anywhere at the Senior level until she learns to capture all of the low-hanging points via better SS, artistic ability, transitions, etc. Most thought I was crazy because she could jump and generally won all of the club competitions and medaled at National/International events (but wasn’t a Champion year after year), but it really depends on how far one wants to go in the sport of figure skating. If Vivian can master these other areas, she will be a Champion. To be the best, you have to have it all and there is not 1 junior lady at the moment that is even close to having it all. I do believe it is always easier if one has the proper jump technique to learn the higher level jumps over time than it is to try to go back and relearn that technique once having the jumps. I think it is equally as difficult at a higher level to go back to the beginning and refocus on improving skating skills, performance execution, etc.

With all that being said (and it was a mouthful), the better question for you to ask may be - are there other age-eligible skaters who have earned a spot in the ISP who have no international experience that may benefit from being assigned to their first international JGP event? If yes, then take your pick.

38 ladies. The SP time frame is just about 4 hours and 40 minutes. The FS is going to take foreeeeeeeever.

I can't believe that they expect 13 year old girls to give their best at 22.30 or even later, when they are normally asleep. This is not a ladies competition. This is for juniors. And I think the last groups SP are a disadvantage at this JGP. It makes a big difference if you'll skate within your biological rythm at 6 or 7 pm or almost at 11. So good luck especially to the girls in the last groups!

If you look at the schedules, you see there is not much to be done. The competitions starts at 10 a.m, so quite early. They could maybe shorten breaks between disciplines, but that could be like 2 x 15 minutes (the ice resurface takes time). So they would be skating late anyway. With so many participants, the organizators can't do much about it. I actually think the schedule is well thought for each day.

I don't think you could fix the schedule by the time you have the most assignments at this years JGP series (in total Ostrava 82, Saransk 70, Talinn 91, Dresden 97). There might have been a problem, which is probably due to the ISU. 38 girls, this is just a huge field compared to St. Gervais (26) or Saransk (28). Maybe some of the countries could have gotten a spot there.

It's not ISU who's assigning spots. The Feds do. So if you want, go complain to all Feds that they are not sending skaters to earlier JGPs. Good luck with THAT.

Poor Hyang Mi Ro.
She will compete at 05.05 AM Pyongyang Time.:scratch2:
I doubt she is acclimated to the time change. :bed:

Pyongyang Time = UTC+08:30, effective 15 August 2015, time zone change into effect on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. :eek:topic:
