By the way, I hope that you have taken the time to check out the Canadian Nationals videos and articles posted by Golden Skate. If you show support for those efforts (through views) then the owner can do more of this type of stuff.

I heartily second this suggestion.

If you're aware of the state of things, then you probably are aware that there are very few reporters (even none perhaps), because of a lack of resources or otherwise, who are covering skating exclusively. If they're not covering the stories you like it's not because they are purposely trying not to it's because they are likely balancing a billion Olympic stories.

And yeah, Rosie DiManno (whom I'm assuming you're referencing with the prostitute comment)? I don't like her either -- in fact I wrote an EXTENSIVELY long email to her once after she did not but slam Shawn Saywer after his great performance at Canadian Nationals.

By the way, I hope that you have taken the time to check out the Canadian Nationals videos and articles posted by Golden Skate. If you show support for those efforts (through views) then the owner can do more of this type of stuff. Two for the Ice also does some great interviews and coverage with North American (read: U.S. AND Canada) pairs and ice teams.

Also, I'm sure if you ask our Japanese and Korean GS users, I'm sure they can point to their favorite news sources, including ones that feature interesting stories on Canadian ladies. Let's face it figure skating is the most popular in Japan, so they're going to put in the most effort in coverage.

Oh no....another topic we have to talk over during a beer break. What drives media coverage of anything....money, policitcs, popularity, media owner bias, etc etc???....sigh...so many topics, so little time. Too little beer.....

The reason for lacks of coverage on ladies is simply because the line-up for ladies at 4CC is very weak compared to the men's and there is no distinctive star to draw the locals or people from the neighboring countries and their media.

Personally, I don't care much for the media when it come's to FS as it is often tilted by personal bias. So many opinions, speculation and unreliable sources on top of an already subjective judging process proves too much for my simple mind. Often times it only makes for great entertainment by so-called experts but after watching the videos and reviewing protocols, I find myself searching for things I may have missed.

Back to the original intent of this thread - so looking forward to the event and seeing how things unfold in the short. I am looking for several surprises as I think the venue will really generate some adrenaline that is often not present.

I'm so excited for this!!! :yahoo: The ladies field is just so unpredictable. I'll go with Kaetlyn for the gold, but there are just so many people who can be on the podium if they do well too.

I am not quite following why the nationality or history of the technical specialist matters. :scratch2:

It doesn't to most but some judges and fans see things based on the where a skater comes from. I've never understood it myself. I really don't care where a skater is from at all.

oh I care if the skater is Canadian ;) lol... i love and adore many skaters from all continents ;) (can't say all countries yet.. but one day I will get there).. but of course I am supportive of Canadian skaters ;)

BUT one sure thing : i do not care where the tech panel is from... ultimately, if a skater skates well, the tech panel is not going to INVENT URs... or EDGE calls... if a skater isn't doing so well, they may get dinged... if they are URing all over the place, they will get caught... but the winners are usually the ones who didn't have anything to be worried about...

Yes... I am naive... but if not, if I were to follow conspiracy tech panel theories, I would just stop following the sport... why would I follow a sport that is completely rigged??? I have to give it the benefit of the doubt... even after 2002... oh lord...

I just watched Zijun Li's LP practice video. She looks skinner, and I cannot really tell she improved under Mishin or not. And she is back to her old coach?? She didn't look too happy on the ice. Maybe it is normal in a practice.

If fans like a good conspiracy, go watch WWF (World Wrestling Federation)...I 'd take figure skating any day over that drama.

And they're not holding back with the "kill karne" I see. Wham. First group and one after the other. Damn.

what do you expect? that they get into the last group based on their world ranking?

i mean, i appreciate your enthusiasm for your national team :) thanks to you, i have been checking out some Australian skaters like Brendan who has a gorgeous huge 3Lz... but do not push your luck :) hehe

CHEERS and good luck ozzies ;)

When we get Finnish and Russian skaters at 4CC I think I may start worrying about this technical specialist. Then again, the ISU will have gone a bit mad if that happens so maybe I'd be worrying about them instead.

That last group of ladies is something out of Worlds. We'll get a good contrast of Chen & Nagasu with Osmond & Daleman. Higuchi and Mihara are skating so early though...and Alaine almost snuck into the last group.

I think this will be a great event and a nice contrast to the high drama high tension men's SP.

Ha, of course not, but a little separation would have been duly appreciated so that I have a moment to recover!

If you like Brendan's 3Lz you will also like Andrew's
