I think it is unlikely that amateur skaters are paying nothing to JSF in contracting for commercials. The reason is because they are amateurs. It is reasonable to think that the contract with the sponsors is not signed directly between them alone. In that case, there is some kind of fee to be paid to JSF.

It was said to be around 20% before, in the case of Mao. It was talked about as one of rumors obtained from a sort of persons related, and we could not find any exact source. As the percentage is not confirmed, I'm not going to say it is appropriate or too much, but still I think JSF is one of the richest athlete federations in Japan considering the popularity of figure skating recently. Of course they are funded by the government as well. JSF is also managing speed skating and short track skating, and I'm afraid we can not expect so many commercial offers in these fields.

In any case, I just want them to use the money for appropriate purposes, including the assistance for young skaters.

The above is my personal thinking though.

A friend of mine (Angel YC) has translated Taiwanese Commentary of Yuzuru SP at 4CC in 2011, his first big competition of senior debut. It seems all the commentators couldn't help but love him. This is the English subbed version:

This was taken when he was just 16 years old. The commentators called him “an adorable young boy” twice. They also predicted that he would have a very bright future. And they were absolutely right.

This clip is very rare since it is the only clip with Chinese commentary of this SP. It was taken when he was just 16 years old. The commentators liked him very much. And they called him “an adorable young boy” twice. They also predicted that he would have a very bright future with big competitions. And they were absolutely right.

I am super curious about his LP too, but another competitor I'll be watching this upcoming season, Tatsuki Machida, has been keeping mum about both of his programs too. I know many people are thinking he won't be able to replicate his success at the last Worlds, but I think his previous programs and his EX have been very interesting to watch. Also I think he and Hanyu will for sure push each other to aim for higher.

Naw, don't do that. Get yourself a book and each day write an idea for his LP and if you're good at drawing- draw a costume too. You'll have plenty of ideas before the actual info and- who knows- you might actually guess what his LP might be.;)
