I like it.

I guess I'm just used to Kazuki doing high-energy coreo... I watched it a second time now and started liking it more. Kazuki's neck and shoulders looked a tad stiff to me, but I hope he gets used to perform the coreo through the season and make it his own!

LOL love the eyes! Do male figure skaters usually wear make-up? I've never noticed it...

Kose, a cosmetics company is endorsing its make-up at the show by having a make up artist do their faces at these shows. Some guys do wear make-up regularly. Machida, Stephane, Johnny and recently, Nobu.

Oh, I see! Seems Kazuki isn't too afraid of make up: https://twitter.com/Timkoleto/status/1015546380083965952?s=19 ;)

Seems there was an earthquake in the middle of Tomono's evening performance. He had to stop for a little bit but everyone was ok and cheered for him and he restarted his performance and was able to complete it.

OMG I didn't know there was an evening performance! I'm glad he's ok! Must have been a frightening experience!

About the SP, I’m feeling positive about it. I also think of energetic performances when I imagine Kazuki but I think he pulls this off quite alright and it gives a more mature vibe. I might like it more if the choreography is a bit more detailed though (perhaps that might come later as he gets more accustomed to the program).

From the reports on twitter I've seen (using Google Translate): The earthquake was relatively strong. Several members of the audience praised Kazuki and thanked him for his calm and collected reaction. Apparently, after if happened, he went back to the ice and cheered the audience and other skaters joined. Then, he did his program again from the beginning.

What a performer. I'm so glad he's OK.

I really like the new short program. I was on the fence with him with West Side Story - but I also really don't like the music. I didn't realize he was this expressive and mature.

Here's a full version of it: http://wolfieonice.tumblr.com/post/175642074606/kazuki-tomono-dreams-on-ice-2018

I'm warming up to it after watching it a few times. I think Kazuki will grow into it really nicely :)

ETA: What a gorgeous triple axel!

Thanks for sharing, Kirara! Very nice performance. I predict he'll get far with it this season and that judges and audiences alike are going to love it, and deservedly so. He's got all he needs to pull it off; he's flexible, engaging and he has really good musicality. And it's good that Kazuki expands style-wise. As for the Love Theme, Sota's rendition remains unrivaled for me, but Kazuki's version is really good too. It's obvious he's been practising skating skills hard, especially in the opening of the program.
And major thumbs up for Kazuki competing even during an earthquake! I know I've said as much before, but the quiet bravery of the Japanese people in the face of various disasters is a wonder to me. /end of OT/

I finally watched the Daft Punk gala yesterday, and although I knew Kazuki was really really good I was amazed again just to see how much he's improved. He's awesome, and so entertaining and musical. Wow. I think this is going to be his season to shine. If he keeps this level up, he'll probably become the undisputed #3 man by the end of the season. And I say this as a big Keiji fan. But that's an 'if' at this point: it will be thrilling to watch how the competitions pan out for these two. But Kazuki has already chosen great vehicles for himself in the SP and the gala.

I also love that EX! So entertaining, typical Kazuki! :)

BTW, did you see his latest interview?

He speaks about his collaboration with Misha Ge, Daisuke Takahashi's return, and plans for the upcoming season 😊

Aah, why are you doing this to me  I should be busy learning simple stuff like "let's set the table" and "how do I get to the railway station", and now I won't be able to concentrate until I translate at least a part of the interview. At least it doesn't look like it's in the Osaka dialect, that was a killer for me.
Kazuki also has a nice new JPN fed bio, btw: https://translate.googleusercontent...700208&usg=ALkJrhiOtwCTuB8finfP88XSKJHE-DrzDA They published them a while ago, but I don't think it has been mentioned here yet. I didn't know eating ramen was a hobby of his, lol.
Btw I browsed the earlier posts here, and found some links of Kazuki participating in the Kurashiki FSC's Support Appreciation Day event. In the light of the recent floods, I really hope the club is OK...

OMG please do! It would be amazing if you could translate. I used Google Translate, which is not that great...

BTW, it seems Kazuki will be participating in the 2018 Gensan Summer Cup.
Does anyone know whether this competition is broadcasted? Are there usually videos after it?
Thanks!

This competition has not been broadcast in the past. However, there is usually some news/media coverage of this event. Clips of performances by select skaters may possibly be shown on a program such as FSTV! at a later date.

Edit: Speaking of FSTV!, the 07.14 episode aired more footage (from May) of Misha working with Kazuki on his new SP.

I've also posted this same clip (lower quality) to twitter in two parts with very loose explanations of some of what Kazuki is saying. (i did not upload the high quality dailymotion video)

This introduction video to Doshisha University contains a short segment featuring Kazuki. His (stiff and rehearsed :p) comments and footage of him practicing at the campus ice rink (assisted by Akio Sasaki) start at 1:26.

Kazuki's Daft Punk EX from H&F 2018 in Nagano. :luv17: I really like the little changes he made when compared to his PIW performance.
