In the wake of him becoming the first Irish Men's skater to qualify for the European Championships (achieved at the Nebelhorn last week), there was a very interesting interview with Conor Stakelum in today's edition of the Irish Examiner newspaper.

Although it is targeted at a non-specialist audience, it is actually very insightful. It lets us know a bit about what life is like not just for Conor, but for skaters in general.

Lovely interview and an interesting glimpse into the heart and mind of a skater! Sounds like a really nice, level-headed guy. I'm rooting for him already and will be looking for his performance at Europeans!

I saw him at Nebelhorn last week! That interview is really sweet, thanks for sharing CaroLiza_fan. It's so nice to read something like that, to see how it is for a skater from a nation that usually doesn't participate. And wow, microbiology and working at a store! I'm very impressed that he's not giving up on figure skating although it's so tough. Yay for Conor!

This article was great! And I had to look up the Kilmacud Crokes and figure out what the sport of hurling was! :laugh: I keep saying we need to have a skating event in Ireland!!!
