They have a Grand Prix silver and a Grand Prix bronze, and were 4th at Europeans, and 9th at Worlds. And have National silver and bronze medals.

Which clearly puts them ahead of other Russian ice dance teams in history. :rolleye:

They were supposed to be a Olympic gold medal team. That’s never happening. They weren’t supposed to be 9th at worlds but world champions. There were expectations that they didn’t even come close to fulfilling so they are the worst team in Russian ice dance history!

I cannot warm to Sinitsina at all. Especially with the videos filmed from afar, it is so clear her lack of personality on ice and some form-issues that make her skating looking sometimes very sloppy. And it give a feeling that Katsalapov overacts to make it for the lacking chemistry, while i know that this is his personality and style. It just doesn't look balanced... I wish he would have got a partner which have complimented his strengths.

LOL
Since when did they say they're on the Olympic Gold fight? You need to chill on that delusion and be realistic. I'm disappointed as well but I'm not going to discredit the work they have put in this partnership like you do.

Since fall of 2014 in many interviews and in interviews with zueva. They all said they will be world and Olympic gold level.

The work they put in must be discredited because they can’t compete. They have no talent for competing. They are a total failure by their own words and comments.

Back then they were all on a high from Sochi, but it was clear from the first season on that this is a partnership that needs a lot of work. I guess their goal will be 2022.

What do you mean "they were supposed to"?!

They were a team swap that just didn't come to fruition Criticizing them for not materializing is like criticizing Peng/Jin or Yu/Zhang for not being Olympic gold medal contenders.

LMAO if people actually expected them to be an Olympic gold medal team in spite of P/C and V/M and all the Americans being around. That's not even hype, that's delusion.

In all fairness, S/K look rather out of sorts. Nikita made two obvious mistakes, at least, so probably his injury hasn't fully resolved itself. They looked very ragged even worse than their test skates, and that makes absolutely no sense.

Why should anyone believe they will ever become competent? They can’t learn lifts or twizzles! They have no consistency. Waste of time and money and energy. Need to know when to retire.

There was the expectation. That’s what I mean by supposed to. When people don’t reach expectation lots quit and move on. Jordan went back to basketball. Tebow left football. People in sports do quit. Several failed football players became congressman. The only things that make sense at this point is Sinitsina and katsalapov retiring or finding new partners.

Only Zhang is an Olympic medalist so katsalapov can be likedned to him but I feel he’s like a trainer of young Chinese women in pairs rather than a real contender.

The current Olympic bronze and gold medalists is now an extreme disastrous failure! Why should he continue? There’s now opportunity costs. Russian fed needs to ban him now. Retire him like they did sokolova. Just get rid of him.

You have the falls and the bad levels on several elements. They failed basic competency that they did show a few weeks ago. They are totally hopeless. Why did they look so bad here? It makes no sense. So they must retire.
