Since there is no thread yet, I make one. The German Nationals will be hosted at Frankfurt.

Here you can find the list of skaters that compete. https://www.eislauf-union.de/files/users/bettgenhaeuser/TeilnehmerDM2018_071217.pdf

There will also be syncronized skating! I saw these teams before, they are quite impressive!

I will not attend the event, so I sadly can not answer questions about the event. I am not aware of any livestreaming.

https://www.eiskunstlauf-deutschland.de/

This is the official website, there is no English Version, sadly. All Event tickets are 50 Euro, there will also be some show program. The opening ceremony was choreographed by Elisabeth Lilik and shows local skaters from Frankfurt and Darmstadt. The Gala does also feature local skaters and was chorepgraphed by Viviana Iparraguierre De las Casas.
They mention on the website that they want to present the various faces of Frankfurt.

You can find two nice interviews on the website. https://www.eiskunstlauf-deutschland.de/blog/ Aliona and Bruno, Annika and Ruben.

Again, they are in German, but i don´t have time to translate them now, plus it might not be allowed by the rules, so I just post the links :D

That´s alll ;)

Danke schön!

No Lena Kreitmeier/Anton Kempf in pairs?

And what about Mari Vartmann? I've read some months ago that she would team up with Matti Landgraf, but no news...

No news probably means that it did not work out or so. Her Instagram no longer mentiones figure skater, but life style, beauty and she seems to travel the world and take picture of things now.

Lena and Anton did win Graz last month, there was no other pair though. ;) No clue about their whereabouts. Too busy year for me and without the events in Germany, I lack first hand information about our skaters.

The BAvarian Open received a change of date though, they are now starting at weekend and go on until Wednesday. I won´t go there either, Aussie Open ;) and afterwards Olympics, so ya. :(

Fentz 74.something
Liebers 60.18

Liebers was leading the Olympic spot race before Nationals. Fentz needs to get at least 201 and beats Liebers by 4.41 points. After this SP it looks good in terms of lead necessary. As for 201 points, it also looks good. His FS was 133/134 at Finlandia Trophy and Skate Canada.

BTW: Sofie Barnová (born 1992 and 8th after SP) is Petr Barna's daughter.

Aha! I knew Sofie was Czech, but I didn't realise that she had skating genes.

Thank you for the information, luckyguy   :points:

Hang on. So Sofie is the the daughter of a Czech singles skater (Petr Barna) and a Czech Ice Dancer (Andrea Juklová).

How come she has been competing in the Swiss Championships up to now? (see her ISU Bio Competitions Record and her Rink Results Bio)

And, for that matter, has she now switched to representing Germany, or is she just competing here as a guest?

It just seems strange for her to be doing the German Championships this week, when the Czech Championships are on at the same time.

I think Lena and Anton split. I saw him last weekend with a new partner in Oberstdorf and a coach told me that they were training together for only 10 days.

Liebers

Some problematic landings.
I think Shin Amano was with him in K&C
207.59

Fentz

he needs 212 to go to Olympics
at least a couple of falls (I am watching both Germany and Italy livestreams at the same time...)
he looks disappointed
FS score is over 157. More than enough
he cheers now. he fistpumps.
231.6 overall

By my calculations the Olympic race final result is

Fentz 645.36
Liebers 625.76

Peter Liebers has better skating skills than Paul Fentz, but if Paul Fentz goes to the Olympics now that is fair. I remember some commentator on the german stream believing that Peter Liebers would medal in Sochi. He was pretty good, but not that good. Anyway, he's been to the Olympic Games before, so it's nice to see someone else have their moment.

Fentz had good a 3A-3T-combination at the beginning and at least tried a 4T (fall). He had less problems with the jumps than Liebers today.

i agree, Peter is my favourite of the two but i think Paul earned his place, Peter was really unlucky becuase of the injuries, i am just glad he came back

She is skating for "Bavaria", so she is skating for Germany at the moment.

Finally the throws have become consistent (because the do not practice the quads anymore?). Sui/han´s big advantange in the throws seems to be gone.

According to Sofie's own words lived the family in the USA 1992-2008, in Switzerland 2008-2015, and since 2015 in Germany. She is now member of EC Oberstdorf. She started with figure skating at the age of 14!
