The Senior competitions start on 14[SUP]th[/SUP] December 2017 at 15:05 CET (14:05 GMT) with the Ladies Short.

So, the target time to get your predictions in is 1 hour before that, i.e. 14:05 CET (13:05 GMT).

If you need any help working out what time this is where you are, here is the Time Converter that Mrs. P has been very kindly directing us to the past few years.

With the Ladies, there were 6 that I had come across before, and 3 that I had not. So, my plan was to put those 3 at the bottom. That was until I looked up their past results, and found that one of them (Ramond) had a much higher absolute PB than the others I was unfamiliar with. So, I decided to look up the girls that I was familiar with, and found that she was also higher than 2 of them (Crozet and Wanner).

And considering I was planning on pitting Crozet into third, this made me re-think my positions.

In the end, I still went with the 5 girls I was intending to put in my Top 5. But, because of the big gaps between their absolute PB’s, I put them in a different order to what I was planning.

Well, if I am totally honest, the only things I changed was to swap around Froetscher and Crozet, and moved Ramond (the reigning Junior Champion) up to be my alternate. Because I haven’t seen her before, I wasn’t confident enough to put her into my Top 5. And I will probably come to regret that decision.

In the Men, I would normally have pick Chafik for the win. But, given his health problems, I have been cautious. I chose Aymoz for the win, Ponsart for the silver, and then Chafik for the bronze.

For the rest of the Top 6, I was back to what my choices would be under normal circumstances.

The American in the field was actually fourth in the absolute PB list. But, that one score was a good 20 points higher than anything else he has ever scored. So, I treated it as an anomaly and slotted him in where his second highest score (from last week’s Santa Claus Cup) would put him.

Apart from Lewton Brain, I wasn’t familiar with any of the rest. So, I just put them into absolute PB order.

In Pairs, I put the two partnerships I was familiar with in the Top 2 positions. And the two partnerships I wasn’t familiar with next, with the order based on the fact that one of them has an ISU Bio and the other doesn’t!

Ice Dance was actually pretty hard. Of course, we know who will win. But the remaining positions could be very close. So, I went with my heart, and chose Abachkina / Thauron for second. For the remaining podium position, I ended up going with the married partnership, but it could go any way.

Looking forward to finding out which way it does go!

OK, so since this was a non-scoring round, I scored all four categories.

There were a few more players here than there were for the British Championships. And everybody won medals in every category!!! :cheer:  :points:

…except for me in Men! :slink:

Here are the Ladies results.

GOLD with 55 points: yume.

SILVER with 45 points: CaroLiza_fan, SnowWhite, Spirals for Miles, Weathergal.

Special mention goes to yume, was the only player to correctly predict that Maé-Bérénice Méité would win. The rest of us went for Laurine Lecavelier.

Here are the Men’s results.

GOLD with 55 points: yume.

SILVER with 45 points: SnowWhite, Weathergal.

BRONZE with 40 points: Spirals for Miles.

And I finished in last place with 35 points :disapp:

Again, special mention goes to yume, was the only player to correctly predict that Chafik Besseghier would win. The rest of us went for Kevin Aymoz.

Here are the Pairs results.

GOLD with 45 points: CaroLiza_fan, SnowWhite, Spirals for Miles, Weathergal, yume.

Everybody made the same predictions, and everybody was correct.

Great job yume for predicting both Meite and Besseghier correctly! I have to say that I don't mind being wrong about either one. I like Mae-Bereniece, of course, but I am especially thrilled for Chafik coming back from that horrible illness.

Thanks. I am also thrilled, for both. Good to see them win after such hard times.
