Olympic Games are kinda like Indianapolis 500 (even some motorsports fans call Indy-500 "The Motorsports Olympics") - did anyone expect for example Alexander Rossi in 2016 or Takuma Sato in 2017 to win? But they won... So let's just wait and see how it will be on the Olympics.

I watched her live interview on CBC. She said that she is ready to do her best. She said that's all she can do. No boasting or gloating that she is going to win but again that she wants to do her best. Great down to earth girl....Whatever ever happens, she has made so many Newfoundlanders proud of what she has accomplished with no big money and federations behind her. Just a little girl from Marystown, Nl. Hopefully going to the Olympics. Whatever happens, you can't take that from her...

A different thing, there. Namely because one deals with absolutes. If a car finishes first, a car finishes first. In figure skating, if a skater lands all their jumps, that might or might not allow them to win. PCS could in an alternative dimension range by several points for the exact same performance - It doesn't really work quite like that when it comes to upsets.

For Kaitlyn specifically, however, she of course does have a pretty good chance for an upset victory if she skates clean and her main competition has trouble. But the Olympic PCS and GOE inflation truly doesn't play into her court as much as it does Sotskova's or especially Zagitova's.

Considering's the vessel that is Osmond's FS and her troubles with it, the chances of her skating great and others faltering is not very high. When the differences in GOE and PCS get diminished, it becomes all about landing everything as well as BV, which really aren't something Osmond has been competitive in.

And Kaetlyn expressed the appreciation for the Newfies' support as well as that from Edmonton and everywhere.

Seeing her picture on clutches with her ever big smile and her warm girl-next-door demeanor makes me appreciate her big personality and diva performance on ice that much more.

Every athelete that goes to the Olympics are not expecting to medal but represent their Country with pride and diginity. Now if they do medal, that's something extra. If every athelete is sure of a gold medal why have the Games, just give them the medal....That's why we have the Games, no one is for sure. May the best athelete on that particular time, win....nothing is set in stone, anything can happen.

At least it does not sound as funny as was "Wagner ready to overcome the demons" - the thread title which was here a while ago.

Even if that were what Osmand actually said ("ready to dominate") what would be wrong about it?

BUT Osmond didn't say it, that's the spin that the Media put on her interview. That's the problem......It only adds fuel for negative comments about her from fans of other skaters that are sure their favourite is going to win.

It would not be wrong at all as it would be her own mind game or mental preparation. For someone else to say it, especially as a news headline, new mental issues and distractions arising from reactions may be created for her to deal with. I think there should be as little outside manipulation of the athletes' game plans as possible leading to the most important competition of their lives. Alas, media do love to stir things up and create controversies but for cbc to do that to Canada's own best Lady?

She is...but there are two people that will stomp all over her first...she'll dominate everyone else though...lol...

Are you sure that there are two people that will stomp all over her first!!! Do you have a crystal ball. Those two people may have the worst skate of their life or Osmond may have the best skate of her life. It happened before. Those two skaters may not even be at the Olympics and then you won't gave to worry about them losing to Osmond. Osmond has nothing to lose but the other two skaters will have to "save face" if they lose or brushed aside for someone else.....

Nothing wrong with thinking positive before a huge event like the Olympics. Perhaps "dominate" is the wrong word here, but if Kaetlyn stays focussed she has a chance at a medal. Her confidence has really improved this last year. Anything can and does happen at the Olympics. No guarantees for the other Ladies either.
