Look, as someone who has sung the National Anthem more times than I can count, I must object to singers who try to turn it into a concert, or sell it as a single. My vocal coach always told us that it was about the lyrics and not the singer. Clearly, Fergie had a different coach...... :drama:

Oddly enough I enjoyed it immensely. So bad it's good. Also loved the players trying not to laugh and Jimmy Kimmel just smiling, thinking about all the jokes. Anthony Anderson must be an amazing actor for looking touched when they cut to him.

Ugh! I take issue with any singer who makes it all about herself/himself when it comes to the national anthem! If you're given the honor of singing it, do it without any embellishment, please!

Oh well, we've had some pretty horrible renditions of "Oh, Canada" done by Americans. Most of the time they get the tune wrong, not just the words. Now we went and changed the line: "In all our sons command" to "In all of us command" We'll all be stumbling over that one, I'm sure.

*perplexed* It does amuse me how absolutely crazy Americans get about their anthem being sung. I mean here, if it's a total disaster, people will probably laugh about it for half an hour, but unless it's some huge event like the Olympics we don't really care quite so much. There it seems to be a national disaster if someone sings it poorly.
