Because I'm bored right now, here's what next year's spots would look like based on just the SP results:

3 spots

RUS (1 + 2 = 3)
USA (6 + 7 = 13) - up from 2 spots

2 spots

CHN (3 + 11 = 14)
CAN (5 + 10 = 15)
GER (8, only team) - up from 1 spot
JPN (9, only team) - up from 1 spot

Should things shift just a little, we could see China and Canada back at 3 spots. The FS will be interesting.

That was an entertaining short programme. I agree with the placements but I do think M/G were lowballed on the PCS front as they skated so early and would have them closer to the Top 3. P/K short is a great vehicle for their skills, it really works for them and they have a deserved lead.

I’m unconvinced of K/I’s long term potential, I think once she starts growing they could be in trouble but they skated a fantastic short. I thought they had a great step sequence it really suited the music and of course their twist is fantastic. I like the Chinese but I’m not sure Chicago is for them I much prefer their free, still they are nicely placed to challenge the Russians.

The Canadians had nice tech but I didn’t like the music or choreo they could have skated that routine to any piece of music. The Americans L/M have a lovely short, again the step sequence woke really welll with the music. I also liked the Japanese, Spanish and Ukrainians (who should have got more PCS). Would it be that big a deal to let the Italians skate the free? It’s a bit harsh to knock out one couple only.

I watched top8. I'm so far behind the Juniors this season... Well, great to see Mishina back! Welsh/Michaud need to fix twist at least a little, otherwise they won't make a step forward. Russian Pairs as always means buissness. I just hope some of this great parterships will survive till seniors. Great to see Chinese on podium place as well :)
