I'm catching up on the men so finally saw what prompted this gif, OMG, I shouldn't have laughed as hard as I did, but...Mishin's face! You can practically hear him thinking "A Waxel...in MY skater?!!"

Queen Liza certainly wouldn't have done that!

Congrats to Kovtun winning his 4th Russian title! And it's not like Kolyada skated terribly himself either. TAT's reaction was everything. Nice comeback for him!

Kovtun is so inconsistent and a headcase, but he keeps winning those Russian Nats. (Even Yags never managed to get one in the good old days.)

Which really means there are just no real world class skaters in the men's field in Russia today:(

Um, a Russian men's skater just won World bronze, like 9 months ago (along with GPF bronze).

Also, Kovtun's performances from Russian Nats would have held up pretty well on the World stage. Even without PCS/GOE inflation (on his 281 score), he probably still would have scored at least the high 260s internationally, which would put him like 5th of all the men this season. We'll have to see if he can repeat this at Euros/Worlds though, because that's a totally different beast. But his quads are looking more consistent than they've been in a while, and the National title should hopefully motivate him. But credit should be given - lots of folks here didn't even have Kovtun in their placement predictions because they expected him to bomb Nationals and then he went out there and won it all.

Aliev just posted his 4T+3T, 4S, 4Lo, 4Lz+3T and 4F (UR, which still in progress). Hopefully he can put it in his next competition, i think he wont get any international competition though since he placed 5th...

Makar Ignatov also posted his 4T and its got enormous height, better than ever, also he land 4S too.
