Hi folks!
Just a blanket reminder:pray:

Please keep all competition chat in the Competition forums. This includes scores, starting orders, elements, links to videos, etc. Once the event is over, feel free to discuss in other Fan Fest, national threads, etc.

Should we find that folks are still discussing competition info in these threads, said threads will be closed until after the competition.

Thanks for you understanding and for supporting Golden Skate!

It could well be. Also the first of the season Kolyada vs Aliev
Is Kovtun going to any CS?

Probably the later ones. His priority is qualifying for nationals per his recent interview.

They say Erokhov did not skate, no reason given.

ETA: Per Tatjana Flade on FSU
World Junior Champion Alexei Erokhov was training, but got hurt in the morning practice and therefore did not skate in the SP at the test skates.

RemyRose - thank you for the links! :thank:

I love Misha’s SP and Dima’s and Sergei’s FP. Pity about some of the jumps, but hopefully they can improve during the course of the season. I wonder about the 4S for Dima? What’s the point of including a new quad? The most important thing this season is to present himself as a stable No. 2 on Russian team. His old jump content would have been enough for that, no reason to include a new quad, unless they want to replace the 4L with the 4S. But I don’t see a reason for that unless it’s injury? The 4L gets more points and it worked well for Dima during the 2nd half of last season.

Sergei is my personal hero of the test skates: learning a new quad at age 30, that’s just WOW!

I love Sergei too, and what a programme. Sure, he needs to get his triple axel back, but even without it...it's lovely music, it's original and once he skates it as it should be skated, it's going to be one big tribute. Very emotional (in fact I became a little teary even now).

Predictable, Iakovlev was replaced by Kovalev for Ostrava (JGP #5).

ETA: Russian fed and their planning :scowl:

Back to the original roster. And the Russian fed still can't plan for anything :palmf: Maybe we will get some more switches after Richmond.

Iakovlev did medal, a silver which make he deserved that 2nd spot. This is why being clean make it more important than having a 3A/quad for junior men. Senior is a different story, you just cant compete without 3A/quad there.

Ugh, no. The Russian Fed has poor planning. The goal is to figure out a way to get your skaters in the GPF not to hinder them. I.E. don't put no 3a Iakovlev in a grand prix that has Phan (okay he's not been in form, but still), Sumoto, Pulkinen, and Mozalev. So his road to the GPF is harder than if you put him in Yerevan that only has Danielian, maybe Kovler, no idea who else since the field looks weaker than Kaunas. Why give it to Murashov who would have to win and outscore Torgashev for a shot? Yeah, maybe Murashov will still get to the GPF with a 4+1 with a score below Torgashev but Iakovlev with a 2+2 automatically places ahead of Torgashev regardless of his score. Then you have Danielian and Gumennik in Ljubljana both who can potentially block each other. It would be better to move Gumennik or Danielian to Ostrava since their potential to beat the other skaters are better than Iakovlev, etc., etc. I consider that poor planning that I hope will change once Richmond is over.

ETA: clearly I don't want somebody specific in the finals, so all my planning revolves around that, sorry someone's specific fans  Whatever, the boys are all unpredictable anyway :slink: I'll just strategically plan breaks while in Vancouver around certain skaters ;)

So the injury is more serious than reported? Could you be other reason too though. Can't believe Nepela's SPs are in a week time!
He was assigned at Finlandia Trophy. That not too much later but will give him a little bit more time.
At the Test Skates he said that it's a minor problem but they decided to be cautious. Will hope for the best.
