I have just received the following information:

Organised by World Ice Challenge Committee


The fifth occasion of this international adult ice skating competition is planned for 30th 31st July 2005 at Slough Ice Rink, Montem Lane, Slough,
Berkshire, UK.


The ice arena is under 10 miles from London Heathrow Airport and ½ mile by taxi or bus from Slough railway station (½ hour from Paddington London). See the _Network Rail UK_ (http://www.railtrack.co.uk/) web site for more details.


Almost every national airline flies to _London Heathrow_

Within a mile or so of the rink is the town of Windsor and the River Thames, and the _Windsor Tourist Office_ (http://www.windsor.gov.uk/) is a very extensive and informative site in English, French, and Spanish. The organisers will provide a separate sheet for local _hotels_

There will be practice ice on the Friday, bookable in advance, and social dancing on Saturday and Sunday between the competitions. There will be no charge for spectators throughout the event.

Yes, I think it is dance and solo dance only. The organisers did include Free and Interpretive one year, only to be jumped on by the solo dancers... and there isn't time for everything, with the amount of social dancing they include.

Last year, when the free skaters all said "Oi", the organisers comment was, "We can't do everything alas - why don't YOU organise a World Challenge event for free skaters...".

Seriously, if anybody did want to organise such an event, I'm sure the current organisers would give you all the help and information you might need. It is a purely recreational event, and as such, doesn't need governing body sanction.
