Ted Barton interviewed Vadym and Avonley after their win at JGP Gdansk:

The interview also is embedded in the ISU recap of JGP Gdansk, which also includes a dramatic photo from near the end of Avonley/Vadym's FD.

One month from today is the RD competition at JGPF. :hap85:

In Nov issue of Skating magazine, Avonley and Vadym are in a photo of USFS Emerging Athletes -- along with Gabbie Izzo, Audrey Shin, Ryan Dunk, Andrew Torgashev, Laiken Lockley, and Keenan Prochnow. (Not in the photo, but Alysa Liu and Hanna Harrell are part of the group too. Hope that I have not forgotten anyone.)
(Before heading to JGP Lake Placid, some other U.S. juniors also had the opportunity to train at Champs Camp -- so I was interested to see which of the skaters at CC were designated as Emerging Athletes.)

Charlie White was working with ice dancers Ales/Tsarik in Novi this week, per Daniel's Instagram. I hope that Vadym and Avonley also had an opportunity to work with Charlie.

BTW, in this short preview of what I think was supposed to be the traditional ISU "music video" at the end of the seven JGPs, I love the brief glimpses of Avonley and Vadym -- the shot of just their hands squeezing, and the one of Vadym waving at the end.

(If the full version of this season's video was played during JGP Egna live streaming, I missed it. :(
In previous years, the full video has been posted on YT, but I have not seen this season's edition there.)

IDC: If you could have a lesson from any ice dancer past/present, who would it be?
….
Kolesnik: I think it would be cool to have lessons with Charlie White and Scott Moir.

Thanks to Charlie White, part of Vadym's wish (from 2017) has come true. :hap93:

Photo of Charlie, Vadym, and Avonley, newly posted on her Instagram:

(Christina also thanked Charlie for working with Anthony and her.
Now … if only Scott would return to Novi when Vadym, Avonley, and Igor are not away at a competition.)

ETA (on Nov 12):
Charlie White is with Ritter/Wang in another Novi photo -- from today (per Jim's Instastory). I wonder whether Charlie has been working daily with Novi dancers for a full week?

Vadym is the only junior who is included in "Team USA Gives Thanks," a collection of quotes published by USFS fan zone.

Vadym Kolesnik
"There are not enough words to describe how thankful I am to my parents. They taught me so much and going away to skate in the United States made me realize how much they both mean to me. Sometimes it's easier to focus on what we don't have, rather then what we have. So always cherish your parents who gave you life."

Brings a tear to my eye. :sad4: :ghug:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone ... and good luck to Avonley and Vadym at the JGPF. :yay:

ETA (on Dec 2):

Vadym and Avonley are included in today's J/GPF promo video on the official social media for Torino 2019 (not all J/GPF skaters are included, but they are):

For posterity, I belatedly am adding a link to an older JGPF promo graphic of Avonley and Vadym, also from the official social media.
I like how it comes through that Avonley's strength is important for the lift  (and of course Vadym's strength is important too).

(Not within the program runthrough.)

I'm pretty sure that it is the practice group for Avonley and Vadym (which is the first J/GPF practice of the whole week), and that Avonley and Vadym are wearing their RD costumes. Kazakova and Reviya are identifiable in the same video, as is Demougeot (the only blonde lady among the JGPF dancers).

Love this mention from Ondrej Hotarek: He already had watched Avonley and Vadym earlier in the season at the urging of Anna Cappellinni, who told her husband that they are "amazing."

My paraphrasing above is from Ondrej's JGPF post-RD interview yesterday with Avonley and Vadym:

Good luck to Vadym and Avonley in the FD. :yay:

JGPF RD (with new PB for RD PCS, surpassing JGP Gdansk):

Yesterday's Olympic Channel blog described their RD as "a vibrant and polished performance." :agree:

ETA:

Will gradually add assorted JGPF-related links to this post.

Very exciting that Avonley and Vadym were invited to skate in the GPF/JGPF gala. (Not all the junior silver medalists were invited.)

On Ice Perspectives has published another video of Vadym and Avonley. :yay:

It is part of a runthrough of their delightful RD.
Jordan Cowan's incredible camerawork really captures their amazing speed, unison, and musicality.

Avonley and Vadym are in practice clothes at Novi (presumably during Jordan's visit over the summer).
Even though I love the RD costumes, I do not miss them here -- because Jordan's video already has so much to appreciate.

I cannot stop watching this video. :luv17:
Thank you, Jordan!

And good luck at Bavarian Open this week. :yay:

So much to catch up on (and I will try to gradually edit more into this post later), but for starters:

Vadym speaks at about the one-minute mark.

Igor and physical acting coach Michael Lee also are included.

(I usually don't like to complain, but a giant boo-hiss to the director, who way too frequently takes extended shots of the live singer and the aerialists instead of showcasing the encore moves of the skaters. Terrible disrespect even for the likes of Sui/Han. Simply unforgivable.)

Congratulations to the 2020 World Junior Champions :medal" :medal" and their team. :yay:

Love these two partners so much. :ghug:
I am totally verklempt at their determination as they pushed past some bumps in the road toward this pinnacle ... and at their overwhelming joy :hap93: and emotion :sad4: at the moment that the scoreboard showed that they had achieved their goal. The thrill of victory!

I will miss this season's programs, both of which I loved too. :luv17:

Best Moment: Nguyen/Kolsenik (USA) edge Kazakova/Reviya (GEO) in exciting Junior Ice Dance battle in Tallinn

Apr 15, 2020

Nice that Avonley/Vadym and Maria/Georgy are being featured in today's edition of the ISU's "Best Moment" series.

(It is a good recap of all three top couples at Junior Worlds.)

ETA (on Apr 16):

Eeek ... just realized that the ISU misspelled Vadym's last name. Sigh.

A day or two ago, I wanted to re-watch the Junior Worlds medal ceremony ... and was sorry to discover that the official Skating ISU full video of entire FD competition + medal ceremony has gotten blocked at this point, at least in the U.S.

Alternative stand-alone link to the medal ceremony:

All six skaters are sweet and gracious, and of course it is wonderful to see Avonley and Vadym's joy and emotion.

Side note that the strong friendship between Vadym and Georgy once again is palpable and endearing. So much chatting and smiling/laughing shared between these two. Vadym literally could not wait for them to be together on the top step of the podium. (The first time that he innocently reached out to bring Georgy up, it turned out to be a little too early for the photographers. After a few more photos on separate steps, Vadym reached out again to welcome Georgy, and the second time was the charm.)

ETA (on May 6):

The group victory hug among Avonley/Vadym/Igor/Pasquale in the Kiss and Cry at Junior Worlds is the closing shot of the USFS "year in review" video ... slightly preceded by the four leaping to their feet at the moment that they knew for sure that they had won Junior Worlds.
A clip of their FD at Nats also is included (at approx. 0:30).
