Does anybody know if Sjoujke Dijkstra, the 1964 women's Olympic figure skating champion from the Netherlands, is still involved with figure skating?
Sjoujke was a heavy-set, robust young woman who skated with athleticsm but little artistry, in my opinion. She had high jumps that she landed with great consistency, and she had a very nice personality as she skated. She had been the Olympic runner-up to American Carol Heiss in 1960 and then succeeded Carol as the World and Olympic Champion in the early 1960s.
As far as I know, Sjoujke did not skate professionally in North America, but of course I may be mistaken about this. Most likely, she skated professionally in Europe with Ice Follies or another show of that type.
