Hi everyone,

I am a beginner adult figure skating looking for advice on protective gear. I am curious to know what you or your kids use as protective gear on ice.

Thank you!

If I risk it all, could you break my fall?~

Personally I have SkatingSafe's UltraCrash gel knee pads (that double as hip pads). They're made from a medical gel and they are great at absorbing shock. However, they are quite expensive. I don't use them often - I'm an adult skater, too, and had worried about falling a lot when I started, but with time you build confidence, maybe to the point of not needing protection as much. I imagine if I were to start jumping some day, I might want more protection - there are padded shorts that protect hips and tailbone all at once, plus IceHalo headbands that (theoretically) protect you a bit from head injuries, though I don't have personal experience with either.
