Kaori Sakamoto winning Nationals.

All nominations are amazing but I personally feel like with others I've seen some foreshadowings that things are going to happen, it's just a matter of time (the 3A consistency, Evgenia's track record, Lilbet continuing to train 4S, Kevin getting consistency on his jumps needed to boost his scores, Liza's 3A).

But with Kaori, in the context of Japanese Nationals, she was a podium contender, for sure, but everyone's eyes was on Rika who had went undefeated the whole season not just because of her 3A but great PCS too, and Satoko, who's been the #1 Japanese lady for 4 years straight despite talented younger girls rising at the same time. At the time Kaori skated her FS, the atmosphere already sort of settled down because Satton doubled her flip and it's basically waiting for the event to finish and for Rika to get that giant cup.

And then that happened.

I remember reading translations of how Japanese media and reporters all yelled when the scores came up, because they were as surprised and they don't have any material ready at all for the Kaori Sakamoto: National Champion result. It got better of course, but honestly.. that moment in the K&C.. it's just pure, genuine unadulterated surprise, something you never thought can happen to someone like Kaori, and it happened.

Elizabet Tursynbaeva landing 4S to grab silver at Worlds was indeed a brilliant achievement. I wonder what her layout will be for both routines this season.

Elizabet Tursynbaeva landing 4S to grab silver at Worlds was indeed a brilliant achievement. She's keeping her SP for this season, but I wonder what, if any, changes will be made in the layout.

I would think so (about the layout changes). Since she's landing 3A now, and has been doing Lutz-Toes, flip-toes and sal-loops at practices at worlds, seems like her stronger combos are coming back to her finally as she's getting fully adapted to her coaching change. Hopefully, she's ready to bring out some serious stuff both in SP and FS next season.
*Don't want to jinx it though , hope it will turn out well for her next season*

Both SP and FS will be different for the next season 100%.
