Checking in from Scotland..

There is a new TV program here (UK) called Strictly Come Dancing, and it is very popular. A pro ballroom dancer is paired up with somebody who can't dance at all and they have to put a 60 seconds or so program in about 2 weeks and then they compete against other teams (6 or 8?). The judging panel is similar to American Idol.

Anyways, around the holidays they had a special called Strictly Ice Dancing, and it was a hoot! The pros were from the Holiday on Ice show cast, and the "amatures" were various celebrities. The special was won by a team which included famous (especially from the 1998 World Cup) English soccer goalie Seaman.

it was be nice to see a show like that in US. If the Ice Channel ever becomes a reality, that maybe a program for them!

Happy New year,

Yana

PS - Kateri, did you watch it?

I thought the show was pretty good. Charlotte Clements, who skated at Euros and Worlds in 98 & 99 was also one of the pros, and it was great to see Chris Howarth & Nicky Slater (Eurosport commentators) who were on the judging panel. I'm looking forward to ITV's series this year, which is supposed to be along the same lines, but has Torvill and Dean coaching the celebrities. :)
