Let's Not Forget Others Need Our Help

I know the tragedy in Asia is on everyones' mind at the moment; however, we always seem to forget about people in our own communities who are homeless and need our help.

Right now we have a cold snap hitting Vancouver and the lower mainland. With all the homeless people needing shelter; I hope they are able to find the care they need and a place to put their head at night.

People in BC are always generous to those in need elsewhere; I hope those close to home are being looked after as well.

The same thing happened post 9-11. A lot of organizations lost money because people diverted their donations to 9-11 based charities. However, people do have short memories and a year from now, people will be donating to wards their traditional favorites.

I just hope that these organizations manage the money well for the long term. There's a lot of money, but the recovery is going to take several years.
