Call me just a very hopeful fan but I don't want to give up the idea that 0.01% of Elena making a great comeback next season just yet. Maybe she'd even make the team. A girl can dream, right?

By the way, I actually really enjoyed her commentary for the past season on Match TV.
I started watching Match TV, because I just can't stand TAT's commentary, but Lena turned out to be such an amazing commentator!

While the guy, who worked with her, gave a lot of general info about skaters, like titles, etc.
Lena was actually giving her opinion on the technical side, whether the jumps were rotated or not etc. In general, she was so professional!
TAT often speaks in the voice that is hard for me to listen, and I think she isn't giving the commentary that is very insightful, besides "SDELANO" lol and shall I say, she's very biased
Lena was such a striking difference and so nice to listen to.

So, whenever she decides to retire in the future, I think her media career can be very successful.

Taking a step forward from the music "fight" stong eye roll .... why the russians don't chose more russian music is a mystery to me.

For exemple https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktiONWfSL48 is way better than that bad guy song. I would like to see a russian lady skate to that or this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et281UHNoOU - this song it's killing me :) Russians have complicated humour.

On a more serious note, I love Eduard Artemyev's works and I'm a huge Tarkovsky fan, and I would die to see a lady skate to Siberiade (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJj9y4t9UnU&t=57s) or meditation from Stalker ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAWbmjfbHMY) or Solaris Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_vi67SHU4E&t=131s

Also i'm obsessed with this russian waltz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkwZMbuiBEs

A bit off topic, but oh well. Does anyone know when do GPF tickets go on sale? It seems like it'll be less expensive than going to Krasnoyarsk :eek:hwell:

In a DM I saw on addictedtofigureskating’s instagram story, ISU said the end of summer.

Haha, so I am not the only one who immediately checked the tickets to Krasnoyarsk - 6000 km, 12 hour flight and €1000 for me. I was hoping Russian nationals would be in Moscow or St. Peteburg to be able to convince a friend or the family for a Christmas vacation. But Siberia will make my task rather difficult...

It seems that it will be Torino or Grenoble for me, Vandevska, but let‘s first see who is skating where. Although I like so many of the skaters that it is going to be a tough call.

Zhenya arrived with two serious injuries at Orser's camp, one who never will completely heal. They had to deal with that the whole season long. Of course she would not have the same results. Also Zhenya struggled with her old jump technique they had to adjust that as well to find a better technique for her new body.
An Injury which has the consequence that she will never do a bielmann spin again.

I can't believe a child is skating to Leningrad's song :laugh2::rofl:
I love both! Also, Ecstasy, Not Paris and Voyage are great ones, I think they would make terrific Xs

Russians (and everybody else) use a lot of classical music which is russian. I mean, stuff like Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff.
Most of the non-classical russian music remains popular in Russia but fairly unknown everywhere else. And, imho, the fact the audience is familiar with the music makes it easier to relate to it for the audience, and to perform to the skater (think carmen, put on a red dress and do some flirty or sexy moves and you are carmen, while if you take some random unknown music, you will have to perform much more for people to understand what is going on).
Then, way more people understand lets say english, which means that a song with english lyrics will make some sense to more people.
I mean, go through this forum and see how people react to stuff like Yunona and Avos (which was used a number of times recently), or stuff like the "Kon'" gala by Aliev.

Specifically on Leningrad... While I love them, I don't think its something easy to translate to ice, since most of its star power comes from the video and the story.

The reasoning behind GPF for me is that we get to see the best of the best in all of the categories, both senior and junior. I keep imagining seeing the 3A, Zhenya, Alina, Kamila Valieva, Yuzuru, Nathan skate right in front of me and it's too hard to stop

But mostly it's like "just imagine seeing the best Russians, both senior and junior, and most likely Rika too!!!!!"

Isnt her back better now? Yoga may help. Acupuncture t too. Zhenya seemed good at Worlds until she's strained a quad.
Her back is better but she said she wont do a bielmann ever again. It seems that this is a consequence of her back injury.

will she do layback ever again? Her sit spin that she does in lieu of layback in SP is not that good. With just haircutter you can still get good GOE and level 4, example is Wakaba Higuchi and Liza Tuktamysheva.
