Whoa that is kinda scary. What a brave kid though!

Wonder if quints will ever be given BV.

Wow. It didn't look like he was getting much help with the rod. Not like Alina's 4flip. I wish I could slow it down just to make sure it's 5 revs.

Somewhere in the videos about Alexey Mishin it was said that scientists think that theoretically the quint jump is a maximum that is possible for a human without technical tricks, such as springs inside skating boots.

From Shoma’s comments and this kid, seems that 5T will really be happening sometime in the future.

Wow, that's beautiful, and what a clean landing. Learning this while your young and are much shorter than the one who is helping you in the harness seems to be a big plus. How are they even going to score it? With the way the current Scale of Values is, a landed 5T would completely overpower all of the other elements in Base Value.

This kid risks issues related to not being fully developed/mature. I cringe when I see kids so young attempting these tricks.

Absolutely doesn't matter if the jump was FR or heavy PR, UR or not. Even the fact of using the fishing rod is not that important.

The much more important the very idea to consider 5X possible.

Next weeks a lot of youngsters and a couple of seniors will do the best to repeat and improve.

What I have noticed is that he may have two revolutions on the way up and two and half on the way down? Is it what a 5T supposed to be done?

5T requires ~2 revolutions in levitation mode.
At least 4 revolutions in air.
Even basic Jedi skills would be helpful.

Isn't it funny, I think last year there was a video, where some technical specialist was saying that quints are impossible, because the rotational speed needed for the amount of air time is unachievable.
And I was thinking, that there's always one person that can prove this to be wrong.
I mean, look at this boy... he makes it look very possible.

Pencil-style body required to land quints.
Or that's what was discussed.

This boy said in his today's interview this attempt was only his fourth or fifth and first to succeed (assisted). He first time attempted 5T only yesterday.

Gorshkov's predicted there's a long way to unassisted jump and even longer till in-competitions attempts.

I predict that it won't be long before we see a quint in competition. Quads have been done for over twenty years now.

Specifically for this boy, i have my doubts.
Russians tend to have a bulkier build, not the pencil body shape of Hanyu and Nathan, so dunno. But overall, quints are clearly coming.

I dont think he could do it without the harness. It looks like its relying a lot on the guy holding him up longer

It seems he barely picks the ice, instead rotating already. The first time I watched it reminded me a lot of a Salchow.
