Exciting to see so many pairs, especially at the junior level.

Interesting to see Audrey Carle taking on pairs.

Last year we had a livestream. Does anybody know, if there will be one this year?

I expect that there will be. IIRC, the link to the livestream didn't appear on the website until right before the competition started last year. It should be on Skate Ontario's DailyMotion page.

Okay, after that considerable delay, we're now getting started with the juniors. I've got a ticket to see the new Tarantino film 9:30, so unfortunately I won't be able to see much of it live, though the first flight is helpfully frontloaded with a number of the big teams.

No Bronsard/Bouaraguia, despite the registration. We'll have to wait for Championnats to see them, I'd guess.

Kiera Kam/Mathew Carter - Jersey Boys ("Sherry" & "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You")

They're cute. Very obviously just out of novice.

    Score: 43.85

Miku Makita/Tyler Gunara - Hairspray ("I Can Hear the Bells" & "You Can't Stop the Beat")

A program that very obviously shifts gears midway through, but these two are very charming. Their costumes are maybe a bit too similar in colour; more contrast, maybe.

    Score: 55.33

Nadiia Bashynska/Peter Beaumont - The King & I ("Getting to Know You" & "Shall We Dance?")

The program ending feels slightly underwhelming, but well-executed. I do like these two a lot.

    Score: 57.49

That's all I have time for right now, alas.

Nice job by Utana Yoshida/Shingo Nishiyama! They scored 53.43

This is Shingo's first season competing as an Ice Dancer. He's been training ID for only about 6 months.
The coaches at TCC heard our prayers and encouraged him to try out.
I understand they also scouted and paired him with Utana who is experienced but has been without a partner and inactive (that I'm aware of) for the last couple of seasons.
Utana with former partner Takumi Sugiyama's JGP debut in 2017 was highly anticipated but they suddenly split before their assigned event.

This event is Utana and Shingo's (nicknamed Utashin by Japanese fans) international debut and the first time performing their RD in competition.

    EDIT:
Link to video of their "A Chorus Line" RD. Thank you to the uploader!

Oh, Shingo is a delight as a brand new ice dancer So glad that he found a place, and a partner, where his talents and charisma could be put to good use.

I really liked Stavrina Arantis. She took part in pre novice, but she had triple jumps and double Axels, and she is around 11 years old.

A little sad after pre novice and novice men. I think girls at the same level were much better. Maybe it's because there is much more competition in girls compared to boys. I don't think I've ever seen so many falls /h of competiion
