I am in love with her in particular. But it must just be early in the season for them because their tango RD last year was just wow. They just nailed it. I wish them all the best for the season!!!

Wow! That is big. That gives Igor and team a failing grade. Samokhin's stock has moved up!!

Hardly. Davis/Smolkin were always a place holder in France. They knew before the test skates that Lake Placid would be their first event. And it would have made no sense for them to do France and LP back to back. Probably test skates helped decide which team would get the spot, but it was never going to be D/S. So no "failing grade" for Igor or anything.

Regardless, I really enjoy this relatively new couple and I hope they do well with their assignment.

Congratulations on the bronze medal! I've just seen their FD and although they had that costly unfortunate mistake, they managed to podium in their international debut this season. By no means, a pair to watch. And she is simply stunning :)

Well, Katia had a very unfortunate fall but luckily for them it didn't cost them the bronze medal. I see great potential here and it is very interesting to see if they will get a 2nd JGP event. Hopefully they will because I could easily see them progressing really well in the coming weeks and scoring really big at the 2nd event if given one.

I really can't say if a bronze with a score of 151 points will be enough to get a 2nd event even if U/N would not skate JGP events this season because Russia has so many teams who can score above 150 points. Well, I guess K/V set the bar here and now we will have to wait and see how D/S and A/D will do next week, and T/S and L/P the week after that.

I don’t doubt they will get a second. It’s ice dance, not ladies or pairs.

Last year Davis/Smolkin, Konkina/Vakhnov and Kuts/Mikhailov got bronze from their 1st event but none of them were given 2nd event. Five teams were given 2nd event and all of them got gold or silver from their 1st event.

Obviously things have changed a bit since S/E have move to seniors and K/N is also gone and U/N might not be fit to skate JGP events this season but still it might turn out that bronze with a score of 151 points will not not be enough for a 2nd event.

I really liked this team. She seems to be already a little star. I`m glad they managed to win Bronze, at least the chance of getting a 2nd JGP is still open for them.
They are already assigned to JGP Poland, but from the past Russia is known to change the assignments once the picture is more clear which teams have a chance to qualify for the JGPF. Although the pressure in ice dance isn`t as high as it used to be in the last 2 seasons. A lot of the teams that received 1 JGP are either newly formed with one partner already having JGP experience or in their first JGP season.

Yeah, the 5th event assignments don't mean anything yet. Those assignments will change based on who does better in their 1st event.

Based on last season K/V is very even team with T/S, D/S, A/D, L/P and most likely with K/F also. That is 6 teams and although it is possible that all of those teams would get 2nd event I find it a bit unlikely. It might very well come down to the points who will get 2nd event and who does not. And all this when not counting U/N and K/C who in theory might still get JPG events but probably will not skate JGP events this season. We will know more on tuesday when the 6th event assignments will be seen. If no U/N or K/C on that list (main or sub) then K/V changes to get 2nd event will improve significantly. In any case Russia has 15 spots which means that at least one team will skate only 1 event.

Looking at the replays it's really unfortunate that she fell because it was such a fluke accident. They have such nice attack, rhythm and flow. I honestly didn't like the first place team, it felt like a reductive S/B program. I am scared as to what S/B's choreographer have put together for them for their FD. But I will be positive here. I am liking the direction Samokhin is taking with his teams. I am sad Gorshkov doesn't really have a team in the race. But hopefully this means that Zhulin's monopoly of senior Russian ice dance is coming to an end, sometime soon. I like a bit of grit in my ice dance, pretentious, lyrical snot or grapenut ice cream doesn't do it for me.

Well, Now Russia has only 14 spots since they only sent D/S to JGP Usa. Andreeva/Desyatov has WD from JGP Usa. I don't know why, maybe because of Visa problems.

And also, U/N have been assigned to the 6th event, so, they might skate 2 JGP events after all.
