Karen Diane Magnussen-Cella is a former Canadian Ladies' figure skater.

She was born on 4 April 1952 in Vancouver, BC.

She is the 1972 Olympic silver medallist and 1973 World champion. She was Canada's Female Athlete of the Year in 1971 and 1972 and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1973.

She was coached by Linda Brauckmann, Frank Carroll and Hellmut May.

She retired from competitive skating post-1973 Worlds and turned professional (during four years she performed with Ice Capades). Upon retiring from professional skating she started working as a coach.

On 28 November 2011, an ammonia leak occurred at the North Shore Winter Club where Magnussen was working, which caused serious damages in her health. In 2015 a benefit show called "Karen Magnussen Tribute" was organized to raise funds for Karen's rehabilitation.

In 1978 Karen got married to Tony Cella. They have three children: two sons and a daughter.

Thanks for this, Karen is my figure skating hero. I used to figure skate when Karen competed. I watched all her competitions when I could. It's sad to think Karen can never enter a skating arena due to her health. She was one of the greatest Ladies champions Canada has ever produced.
