Re: Feathers

Linny,
ITA about Arakawa's Swan costume. At first I was on the fence about it, and the program, but by the second time I saw it, I was in love with it (and her!). I think you're right: Shizuka has the bearing and authority to pull it off.

I don't know what everybody finds wrong with Eman's SP costume. Ok, the colors are a bit, let's say, feminine, but that's not any worse than some other things we've seen. Alexei Urmanov, anyone?
I think that costume fits him perfectly. I noticed that it makes him look less skinny. I was in Quebec, and I remembered Emanuel to be very skinny, but when he jumped on the ice for the SP, I thought, ok, maybe he put on some weight. But then at the exhibition, with the Purple Rain attire, he looked skinny again. What's more, I think he looks skinnier on TV than live! Ain't that weird, it's supposed to be the contrary!

I think I am crazy. :)

After the hours of skating on the 14th, I have to ad Michael Weiss' outfit in the Hallmark classic. The mini vest with all the nail heads or studs. Yes, it was a studly outfit. Not sure if there is a subliminal message there, but I still hated it. Not sure what they are. the vest is short and we got to see his midriff, which is not a thrill somehow.

I dislike this outfit almost as much as the tinfoil one he skated in to the Backstreet boys.

Irina is not in top form yet, but the blue fringey costume did nor flatter her. That's ok, I think she has had some lovely past dresses.

But I think whoever does Mike's outfits should tone it down. Does he have a costume designer?

Fetal and I discussed Mike's costume in the chat. Fetal felt that Mike looked like a biker, I said a gay biker, and then Fetal said I shouldn't blame it on gay people, which is true, so I think it's Mike's (Mike "I'mnotgayihavetwochildren" Weiss) interpretation of what a gay biker would wear.

And we agreed he needs to lose the breakdancing. He doesn't even it do it well....

I personally liked Michael's outfit. It certainly fit the music and his skates and "tricks" are innovative. That's what the sport apparantly is all about. Good for you Michael......42

I guess Mike may look like he could be *merry* or bi, but I think he is very comitted to his family. I don't think he'd go to such trouble to marry, have two kids, deal with all that to convince us he is hetero. No other top *merry* skaters do that. Maybe in Button's day, it was good form, but today, no one cares. Look how popular Rudy became despite his comments/different skating.

72% of what Sasha Cohen has worn. Especially the new dress she had yesterday at the Hershey's thing in Detroit. Could she find a dress that exacerbates any more her lack of boobsies? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> I once heard her 2002 Olympic dress for "Carmen" described by a guy at GGMB as something that belongs on a pinata in Mexico. True true. I hated her SP dress from Salt Lake as well. It made her look like she was in the 4th grade.

Todd Eldredge is way too plain.

I'll think of more later.

I think Sasha's costumes are generally flattering, coco. she's a very tiny girl, but most figureskaters have a small butline if any.

Costumes

Both of Jamie Sale's costumes from the Sears skating spectacular.

The black lace number over a white lining has a seam that runs right up the center of her back. It looked pretty sleezy.

The long program costume was a tad better, but, geeze, get some proper elastic in the panty bottoms. And the skirt wasn't really a skirt, it was a sleeve wrapped about the her hips instead of her arm.

Can't Yuka Sato please introduce Jamie Sale to her dressage designer?

One other note: wouldn't it be nice to see Jamie can the pony tail and go with some kind of pert hair cut like the one that Dorota Zagorska (the female half of the Polish pair team) is now sporting?

Re: Costumes

What was with that black and white "cheerleader" skirt that the pairs team of Pang & Tong wore? The music was so lovely and what she wore was so bad:p He actually looked fine with his white shirt and black pants. Couldn't they find something more pretty for her?

Re: Costumes

dlksk8fan - I agree with you about Pang Qing's dress. I mean really, they skated to 'The Prayer', not Britney Spears!!! Plus, she's so thin I don't think I need to see her midriff.

Others I do not want to see again from this weekend:

Irina's blue fringe thing - YUCK!!!

Michael's vest thing with the studs - EEEWWW!!!!

Tim's grey and red shirt - the guy is thin, he does NOT need a shirt with billowy sleeves!!!

Shirts

Timmy's shirt was designed to hide the fact that he is STILL hump shouldered when he skates.

Mike's studded vest is designed to set him up for professional touring. It's the stuff people seem to like to see on the show circuit. And, yes, it does look like something that the late, great, Freddy Mercury would have worn.

Re: Shirts

If we're talking hair, how about Sarah's awful I've been standing in the wind for 3 days so my French braids have started to frizz look. Definitely needs a new style. And then there's Elena Grushina's original dance homage to Charlie's Angels. It's lovely while she's not moving, but when she starts skating between that and her hideous dress there's so much flipping going on who can tell what their feet are doing? Just my catty moments for the day.

Re: Shirts

Does anyone remember Rudy G in some weird black and white striped shorty/unitard thingy with pink lace around the leg openings? The back seam made the stripes appear to go right up his..um...well, bottom.

yeah, of Tim's outfits, the shirt he wore for the SP last year was my least favorite.

What was the name/year of Irina's blue, flame-like with a little orange costume? It looks a bit old, say maybe 98/99? oh God, What is with Jeff Buttles Canadian Open Pants? Trying to distract from the fact he has no quad?

Re: outfits

You guys are absolutely hilarious! :rollin: :rollin: :rollin:
Its 130 in the morning and i am laughing at every single post!

some of mine:
1. Honda mummy shirt.... i admit at first i hated it especially when it started falling apart during campbells but its starting to grow on me....

2. Sasha Cohen's white stripes on that new lp dress of hers. Sasha honey, you have designed such pretty costumes, whats up with this one?1?! I have to admit it would look a WHOLE lot better without the stripes, otherwise it looks like a lil kid took whiteout and drew all over it! Also the flame lp from last years OLy wasnt that pretty on her either.

3. Arakawa's biork imitation.... i had a field day with this dress when my roommate and i were watching nhk.. saying it looked likeshe was in a straight jacket ready to be shipped off to a swan mental institution! "help the dying swan!" But again, it did start to grow on us but no feathered bottoms, i hate it!]

4. Ap's lp dress from this season.. yes we get it you are a butterfly, but dont plaster it to your chest! (im sorry not a big person on overloaded sequins! but again, i think AP COULD possibly pull it off. I will expect more from her next time though.)

5. Phillipe- does he even wear clothing when he skates? i think he is one of those people who like to skate naked! Every time i see him it looks like he is trapped in a skaters body and what he really wants to do is be a male strip dancer!

6. Irina's costumes were never a hit with me but the sp costume isnt that bad! now the skates themselves that will annoy me!

Re: outfits

I think it's Stannick Jeanette, I'm not really sure, but the French guy's outfit w/ the stars & the brown and the yellow.... Not good!
