Very interesting that the Zhangs came out ahead of Pang/Tong. I think during the next Olympic cycle it will really be between the Zhangs and Obertas/ Slavnov.

Absolutely thrilled for Orcher & Lucash! Perhaps I am even happier not for them but for Naumov who finally has his elite team!

I am very happy for Vadim and Evgenia. They have made great choices for O&L to build their confidence and develop their style as a team. Good luck to them at worlds!

I personally am not surprised at the result; the Zhangs have been gaining ground this year and Pang/Tong have been losing some. ITA agree that they and Obertas/Slavnov will be the 2 to watch during the next cycle (unless Obertas changes partners again :sheesh: ) and I also think that they're going to be the main 2 battling it out for the bronze in Torino; based on their respective current improvements this season, they seem to be on track to overshadow both of the P/Ts.

Incidentally -- I wonder if it's actually technically correct to refer to them as "the Zhangs" since they're not brother and sister or married?, like for example the Protopopovs or the Hartsells. It'd be Zhang & Zhang but I don't know if 'THE Zhangs' is correct since they're not actually from the same Zhang, so to speak. Hmmm. Wonder what the correct "etiquette of nomenclature" would be.

Actually, "the Protopopovs" is not correct either as she Liudmila never took her husband's last name (we don't talk of the Grinkovs after all). Then again, who wants to spell out Belousova and Protopopov every time!

Really? Very interesting. I know they're in the record books as Belousova and Protopopov , but I always thought, when they were competing in the World Pros in the early 80s, that it was Ludmila & Oleg Protopopov..... Hmmm.....

And as for who wants to spell out Belousova & Protopopov every time -- well, at least Belousova is a lot easier to type than Protopopov!!

Wonderful for Katie and Garret. I hope they keep the momentum for Worlds.
