I don't know of how much interest this will be to anyone who doesn't live in the Southern California area, but while searching for pictures of the old Polar Palace, (a local rink that burned down when I was five years old), I came across this page that not only includes a huge color (unusual for the early 60s) shot of the interior, but a written commentary from my brother (Jerry Hollombe). There's also a link at the top of the page that'll take you to a different page with listings of all the rinks currently in use in and around Los Angeles. This is a city with a population of 10,000,000 where it never snows, which is why there are so many.

Idle-thanks for sharing this bit of SoCA skating rink history. I remember skating at the Costa Mesa rink back in the 80's. I worked for Nordstrom at their SoCA corp offices in Santa Ana and after work I would go over to Costa Mesa to skate.
