This fan captured a funny moment today. According to their report, Tatsuki was doing rounds in the wrong direction and Miki Ando laughed out loud at him. Shoma Uno is in the background looking confused

I also watched the talk show dedicated to Marin's appearance at this show and the analysts in the studio said "Watching Akiko Suzuki and Tatsuki Machida skate, I think they can still go back to competitions". I think Akiko is doing a great job on tv and as a choreographer and she left many beautiful programs behind. Tatsuki on the other hand, it's always tough to hear comments like that about him

It's always good to see him looking more relaxed during the fureai time. Shoma must be thinking "glad I'm not the only one who is constantly lost."
Do you think he is still able to do the 4T if he practiced? Midori Ito was on TV a couple of days ago and she said that she can probably still jump the 3A because her body still remembers it.

I think he can do anything if he puts his mind to it. After all, he didn't have a good 4T until he was 23 so with proper training he would probably be able to jump it again. But it's not enough to be competitive now, he would need another quad. He saw it coming two years ago when he was practicing 4Lz and 4T-4T in the off season, but he's already 26 now and I doubt he wants to risk getting injured.

Such a shame he couldn't get a 2nd quad. Oh well, we should just appreciate the fact that he still skates a couple of times a year unlike Taka-chan.

I think he would have gotten a 4Lz because his 3Lz is his best jump. The news reports back then were pretty vague, so he may have landed some 4Lz in practice. All he said was that there was no time to master a second quad so he decided to stick to what he could do best and add more transitions. It is possible that if he had decided to keep competing until Pyeongchang like he wanted that summer, he would have introduced a 4Lz in his layout at some point.

The Prince Ice World Yokohama shows have ended today! Tatsuki rarely smiled in the last couple of years but when he smiles, his face lights up. Credit for pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

He chose a vintage power ballad and plays the male character from the official video, who can be seen wearing gold necklaces and deep v-necks.

In other news, TV personality Chris Matsumura attended yesterday's shows and met the skaters.

"And then, the surprising Machida Tatsuki-san.

Since he retired and went down a new path, I’ll no longer be able to see him perform… or so I thought…

Before the performance, much to my surprise I met him backstage!
“Please enjoy [the show]!” And indeed, such a surprising choice of song… and what an amazing evolution he has achieved!

I can’t spoil it, so I’ll hold my tongue [laughs]… but I’ll say one word: “Terrific!”

The world of Tatsuki Machida"

Thanks ioanna, all the updates!

Finally I can see his new program… and repeat and repeat. The long and huge applause and standing ovation from the crowd tell everything! They were just moved…
The spotlight is effective. Fist, it is a simple white spot to the 1st thematic melody line, then the area gets wider and then again shrinks.
Her sweet voice totally mingles with Tatsuki’s skating… It’s feels like a falling cherry petal (https://www.google.co.jp/search?q=散...X&ved=0ahUKEwj7q4C8v8zMAhUD5aYKHZgcCN4QsAQIIA). Just beautiful… He skates cherishing every single word…
His elegant and refined movements… All the elements melt in the piece totally…
Finally, the camera work is so nice! They often use the long shot not the up one, so we can enjoy all his movements and the lighting. It’s like a poem..

Just beautiful… He skates cherishing every single word…

This was his intention all along, he took the challenge of transposing the lyrics onto the ice. While it's a bit difficult to fully understand the program for non Japanese speakers like us, it's still beautiful skating. Over time, he has developed a unique style so when I watch him I think this is trademark Tatsuki, nobody in Japan skates like him. While his previous EX had 7 jumps, this one only has 3 and he only has 2 or 3 spins. The rest is just skating, and it's amazing that he could move the audience so much. He's also gotten a bit older and looks very comfortable expressing a love song like this. I won't even mention the amount of comments I've read about his looks. Needless to say, quite a lot of ladies were infatuated with him.

Yuzuru Hanyu talks about Tatsuki Machida's Retirement (April 2015; original video deleted)

“Last season at Worlds he said ‘I will retire as an athlete and from now on I will become an artist’. We’ve always battled against each other and I thought of him as a comrade so I more or less had a hunch. It’s thanks to him that even my way of thinking about my performances has changed. The fact that Machida-senshu retired makes me feel very, very sad and lonely but at the same time I honestly want to say ‘you’ve worked hard’ and ‘thank you so much for everything you did up until now’. Those are the kind of feelings I have in my heart.”
