Don’t remember reading an official explanation, people guess is because they want to reduce the broadcast time **What was the reason for cutting down the length in the first place again?
same number of jumps with less time :disapp:
they should never do this

Not exactly, one jump less. But 30 seconds = 1 Jump? Something is wrong here.
Watching Lombardia toady and the men event is so exhausting. Aliev and Shoma look like they were sucked out of energy in the second half. Now with only one less jump, they lost 30s to rest and adjust.
Yup, they all definitely looked totally exhausted, from what I saw.It is not less exhausting, it is more exhausting.
With the men it is slightly different. I understand that it's all the more difficult to compete with multiple quads with 30 seconds less, but on the other hand I've more often than not enjoyed skates with only triples or one quad with a lot of skating skills and transitions in between...so I'm not wishing yet for getting the 30s back. We'll see.
They will still have to squeeze choreo sequence into those 4 minutes. The skaters who are just coming up from Juniors this year will probably handle it best, as they're used to skating at that length and their choreographers are used to working with it
