I was looking at it myself. Ladies Free would be live Saturday night, presumably preceded by 1 hour highlights of Ladies Short from 2 days earlier. Could be Men's Free from previous night though.

Prior to Gala, time is exactly right (10 p.m. UK), there will be 3 highlights programmes from 7.15 p.m. to 10 p.m. My guess/hope will be that they will Free Dance, Pairs Free and Men's Free if not already covered on Saturday night. Nothing else scheduled though IdF highlights on Friday afternoon, might just be Men's and Ladies Short from previous night, though judging from recently will be IdF highlights.

This is the coloured time schedule - Juniors and Seniors are all mixed up as you'll see, first juniors competition (RD) starts 2.05 p.m. local time i.e. 10 p.m./11 p.m. UK/CET on Thursday.

Hi, another question about eurosport - the previous GP this year had all the programms (some with commentary and all without), but in NHK Trophy the short dance wasn´t available and videos from GP in France suck in general - no rythm dance, no gala - does someone knows how it works - I tought that without commentary all categories should be available in full lenght :scratch2:
p.s. Am I the only one with a this problem - on PC all videos are working, on mobile app only the videos without commentary are working.

Can only speak for the UK, not Czech Republic, but looking at the UK version of the Player it looks as if exactly the same sort of thing has happened.

Re specifics, NHK only now seems to have those things that weren't shown live i.e. TV programmes that did have commentary have now dropped off as you would expect. However don't know if the livestream versions of these were ever there (wasn't a subscriber at the time). However the RD wasn't shown live at all in fact not even highlights on the main channels, so would expect that to be there.

CoR seems to be full set of all livestreams (TV programmes now gone, as expected).

However IdF is as you say. However was an awful lot of confusion re commentary/non-commentary, plus from above looks as if they were reading this thread, and not necessarily understanding what we were going on about. Hence you got the RD and Ladies SP livestreams being dropped i.e. they're not there on the Player at all. However would expect the Gala to be, it wasn't shown live plus was on a livestream at the time. It may be worth contacting them re this as it should be there. However can't imagine you'll have a lot of luck re IdF RD and Ladies SP because they were never there in the first place, plus NHK RD is probably now lost in the mists of time. Hopefully GPF will be better plus will have to watch in the future. What we really want is commentary free versions of all livestreams, plus the TV programmes they show, plus maybe one day the option of commentary or not on the livestreams - just as they had at the Olympics.

It seems so. I tried to ask on czech fb pages, but no response. Probably have to find and try an email...every year I subscribe eurosport for GP, every year it is full of problems. It is obvious that skating is marginal for them. 😣

Yes, I have emailed via the Player FAQs, I think, and they did respond. Was asking how they managed to show Men's SP highlights a couple of weeks ago rather than scheduled Free Dance. Got a 'bat back' response initially, and only a fuller one when I pressed them.

However did find something interesting in that they said the Player and TV were completely separate parts of Eurosport, and I would need to contact the TV side for an explanation of what had happened - something to bear in mind for future questions - there was nothing to indicate on the Player that the contact was only for the Player.

Sorry that this is only British Eurosport at the moment, but I kept getting interrupted this morning.

I have to say, the coverage on the linear TV channels is pathetic. No coverage of the Juniors. No coverage of any of the Senior Short Programmes. The only LIVE coverage is of the Ladies Free and the Gala.

Although, to be fair, there are highlights of all the Senior Frees. And, given that there are only 6 taking part in each category, they should be able to show everybody within the hour-long broadcasts.

I’ve started on ESP Deutschland, and the only difference so far is that they are not showing the highlights of the previous GP’s in the run up to the weekend. So, I am expecting the rest of the continental versions to be similar.

Will finish this post tomorrow.

Yes, it's getting beyond coincidence that they're not showing things when they could. E.g. on the Friday afternoon when they're showing (2 week old) highlights of IdF they could show the Mens and Ladies SP from the previous night Canada time, plus it would act as a good lead in to the Men's Free highlights and Ladies Free live the following evening.

However from a casual fan's point of view it might not be too bad i.e. skating prime time Saturday night and Sunday night, 2 hours Saturday, 4 hours plus Sunday. Just a shame re the SPs, because normally they take every opportunity to show live sport or new stuff, unlike say Sky where the move to single sport channels has revealed how little live sport they actually show, whereas Eurosport has been awash with it this last 2 weekends, plus think the GPF weekend is also the same, their winter sports coverage is excellent really, it's just the attention to detail with FS that disappoints.

Re the Juniors these are the times of the various programs, locally, for anyone tuning into the JGP Youtube channel - add 8/9 hours for UK and CET.

Thursday -
RD - 2 p.m.
Men SP - 3.15 p.m
Pairs SP - 4.25 p.m.
Ladies SP - 5.40 p.m.

Friday -
FD - 3.45 p.m.
Men LP - 5.05 p.m.

Saturday -
Ladies LP - 3.15 p.m. (immediately after Senior Ladies live on TV channels in fact)
Pairs LP - 4.30 p.m.

Curiosity just got the better of me, and I went to a few of the continental versions to see what they were showing on Friday afternoon between the LIVE Biathlon and the LIVE Ski Jumping.

ESP Deutschland, ESP Nederland and ESP Italia are showing fillers (Pyeongchang Hall Of Fame, Chasing History, WATTS etc.)
ESP France is showing LIVE Freestyle Skiing (Moguls), and highlights of the earlier Biathlon

So, it looks as if the reason is that there is LIVE sport being shown elsewhere. Although, why is it only in France that the Moguls are being shown on the linear TV channels? The World Feed of the Moguls is on all the versions of the Player, so why are they showing fillers on the linear TV channels?

So much for Eurosport being a "LIVE sport driven channel" (just to explain, this was the excuse that Carlton Kirby always used to give when the daily highlights of the Dakar Rally got shunted about).

Well, the X Factor's over, so there isn't much else on on a Saturday night...

I totally agree with you about Sky Sports. I don't subscribe to Sky Sports, but I can see the listings. And whilst it seemed a good idea in theory, having dedicated channels has indeed highlighted that they don't have a lot of sports rights.

Like, Sky Sports Main Event is purely a simulcast channel. The only reason it existed is because Sky were required to provide coverage of some football matches to all pay TV platforms, but because they were having a feud with BT, they didn't want to give BT access to the full set of channels. But, that feud is over now, and all the Sky channels are now on BT TV. So there is no need for Main Event. But, if they got rid of it, the thick football fans would complain that they were paying the same for less channels (not realising that they are actually already paying for a nonsense channel). And Sky don't have enough rights to replace it with another sports channel. So, they are keeping things as they are.

Also, it looks like Eurosport will be taking over the PGA coverage in a few years time (press release about deal between PGA and Discovery). So, that is going to leave the schedules of Sky Sports Golf very thin.

It has just shown how heavily reliant Sky Sports is on football. Like, because they have only 2 football channels, they are having to put loads of matches behind the red button. And at the same time, they are struggling to fill the schedules of the other channels. It's a farce!

But, my worry is that the figure skating could eventually end up on Sky Sports. Because, it is clearly not a priority sport for Eurosport, and Sky is now owned by the same company (Comcast) that owns the broadcaster that has the figure skating rights in America, NBC Universal. So, they may pinch it to try to fill up their schedules. And to make it cheap and cheerful, they would probably just simulcast the American broadcasts.

Scary thought!

And if they do, that will be the end of me watching figure skating on linear TV. Because the Sky prices are ridiculous enough without the extortionate prices they charge for their sports channels.

Rant over

I won't bet on it, have you noticed how little they show now in the 2h highlights? No SPs of podium finishers anymore but endless commercial breaks :dev2:

Sorry, I haven't been watching the whole event highlights shows this season, because I've been watching the LIVE World Feed coverage on the Player.

But, it wouldn't surprise me that that is the case! :bang:

Oh, I forgot to mention. Another worrying development.

After their spending spree buying other broadcasters in recent years, Discovery are now starting to close down some of their newly acquired linear channels.

https://www.a516digital.com/2018/12/discovery-removes-ex-scripps-channels.html

So, if they are in the closing channels down mode, I think we can kiss our dreams of more linear Eurosport channels being launched goodbye.

Funnily enough I've never seen Moguls on UK Eurosport, but at least it would be live - I sometimes jokingly think there's some poor soul stuck all by themselves in an empty room with no windows at Eurosport trying to figure out 37 different Eurosports - there's probably more - and balancing all the different sporting rights in each country and what is favourite in one and favourite in another, and sometimes just picking a few things out which they then try to balance out across the 2 channels, plus some things like figure skating with its 8 different segments over 2 days for a GP are just too complicated, so if there's lots of other sport they just pick a couple of disciplines and be done with it. This probably explains why we've been not been getting live skating while they've been showing highlights of other skating, some of which has also been shown before.

Have to say my heart sank when I saw your PGA tour stuff - it's all year round, they don't stop after the PGA Tour Finals at the end of September, they start the next year one straightaway with only a break mid-Nov to the end of the calendar year. How they'll fit that into 2 channels remains to be seen - actually thought Sky would have renewed because they were making a fuss about renewing the European Tour (they need that so they can show the Ryder Cup), but allied to the loss of ATP Tour tennis next year to Amazon Prime, well I can't see me subscribing much longer either.

Re Comcast's takeover of Sky and skating coverage, the thing that will interest me most is if Sky start showing cycling actually. Despite the success of Team Sky they don't show it at all and you'd think it would be a no-brainer to show it, which would be a real blow to Eurosport of course - the home of cycling as they like to call it. Could be an interesting year or two ahead as the full ramifications of Sky's takeover by Comcast, and Discovery's plans for Eurosport take full effect.

p.s. think we'll be OK with 1 hour highlights for the GPF highlights - they've been able to get 6 skaters comfortably in this year, it's only the 2 hour highlights that have been a squeeze - I've been counting and 3 disciplines you get 3 skaters, and 1 you get 2, so 11 in 2 hours, so 6 in one should be OK, though there is live Luge before the Men's Free highlights on Saturday evening...

EDIT - Have just been thinking about the PGA Tour stuff. 2000 hours a year is massive, 5.5 hours a day, average, so what's it going to be like on the 4 days a week i.e. Thurs to Sunday when they actually play tournaments. Unless they get an extra channel, Eurosport is going to change forever.

Re skating, we'd still be OK with that from Asia due to the timezones, but we'd be stuffed unless very lucky if it's in the evening UK/Europe time. Afternoons would probably be OK, Sky normally starts its coverage 6 p.m. UK time, so even a bit earlier you'd be OK, but overall it has to be bad, or very bad, for skating - it's the fact they play week in week out as well that would do the damage, that 2000 hours has got to come from somewhere.

Just a bit of news for you.

It was announced on Tuesday that this weekend's ski jumping at Titisee-Neustadt has been cancelled due to warm weather and rain forecasts. When I heard this, I thought "Oh, that means they might be able to show highlights of the Short Programmes on Friday and Saturday after all!" :cheer:

Well, although the Sky EPG listings haven't been updated yet, the Eurosport Player listings have. And I am afraid that ski jumping's loss has not been figure skating's gain. It's luge and freestyle skiing that have benefitted.

Oh well! :disapp:

Same here. Can anyone provide a working link for US? I tried a few. (Or is this the wrong thread to ask for one?)

I also don’t see any live streaming on youtube.

I know a young fan, can’t even encourage her since finding it to watch has been so complicated. Amazing how hard it is for thus sport.

NBC 4-6 est. the men. I didn’t know ladies live was on last night. Could folks do reminders in the main folder for nbc and nbcsn. I have had so much including surgery this week. I just watched videos of ladies. So upset I missed it on tv. Which is way better than YouTube iPad. Anyway can we all remind each other? Us old folk sure appreciate reminders!

I was seeing bits of Hanyu exactly wh n Tara said she did lol watching Jun. agree with her assessment. Keegan has done well. He reminds me of Scotty a bit. The perky music and maybe the same height as Scott? The upbeat programs seem like yesteryear a bit. Anyone watching?if only the men were like the ladies event! Sigh.

There's a pinned thread, "2018-19 Television Schedule", at the top of The Edge: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?76090-2018-19-Television-Schedule
You can pick it out from all the others by its little loudspeaker-shaped "announcement" icon. The first post contains the NBC/NBCSN schedule for the entire year. :)
