It is not looking good for GPF - only 1.5h Live on Saturday and 2.5h on Sunday night (gala?)
Hi, another question about eurosport - the previous GP this year had all the programms (some with commentary and all without), but in NHK Trophy the short dance wasn´t available and videos from GP in France suck in general - no rythm dance, no gala - does someone knows how it works - I tought that without commentary all categories should be available in full lenght
p.s. Am I the only one with a this problem - on PC all videos are working, on mobile app only the videos without commentary are working.
It seems so. I tried to ask on czech fb pages, but no response. Probably have to find and try an email...every year I subscribe eurosport for GP, every year it is full of problems. It is obvious that skating is marginal for them.
Sorry that this is only British Eurosport at the moment, but I kept getting interrupted this morning.
I have to say, the coverage on the linear TV channels is pathetic. No coverage of the Juniors. No coverage of any of the Senior Short Programmes. The only LIVE coverage is of the Ladies Free and the Gala.
Although, to be fair, there are highlights of all the Senior Frees. And, given that there are only 6 taking part in each category, they should be able to show everybody within the hour-long broadcasts.
I’ve started on ESP Deutschland, and the only difference so far is that they are not showing the highlights of the previous GP’s in the run up to the weekend. So, I am expecting the rest of the continental versions to be similar.

Yes, it's getting beyond coincidence that they're not showing things when they could. E.g. on the Friday afternoon when they're showing (2 week old) highlights of IdF they could show the Mens and Ladies SP from the previous night Canada time, plus it would act as a good lead in to the Men's Free highlights and Ladies Free live the following evening.
However from a casual fan's point of view it might not be too bad i.e. skating prime time Saturday night and Sunday night, 2 hours Saturday, 4 hours plus Sunday. Just a shame re the SPs, because normally they take every opportunity to show live sport or new stuff, unlike say Sky where the move to single sport channels has revealed how little live sport they actually show, whereas Eurosport has been awash with it this last 2 weekends, plus think the GPF weekend is also the same, their winter sports coverage is excellent really, it's just the attention to detail with FS that disappoints.
Although, to be fair, there are highlights of all the Senior Frees. And, given that there are only 6 taking part in each category, they should be able to show everybody within the hour-long broadcasts.

I won't bet on it, have you noticed how little they show now in the 2h highlights? No SPs of podium finishers anymore but endless commercial breaks :dev2:
Sorry, I haven't been watching the whole event highlights shows this season, because I've been watching the LIVE World Feed coverage on the Player.
But, it wouldn't surprise me that that is the case!
Oh, I forgot to mention. Another worrying development.
After their spending spree buying other broadcasters in recent years, Discovery are now starting to close down some of their newly acquired linear channels.

So, if they are in the closing channels down mode, I think we can kiss our dreams of more linear Eurosport channels being launched goodbye.

Curiosity just got the better of me, and I went to a few of the continental versions to see what they were showing on Friday afternoon between the LIVE Biathlon and the LIVE Ski Jumping.
ESP Deutschland, ESP Nederland and ESP Italia are showing fillers (Pyeongchang Hall Of Fame, Chasing History, WATTS etc.)
ESP France is showing LIVE Freestyle Skiing (Moguls), and highlights of the earlier Biathlon
So, it looks as if the reason is that there is LIVE sport being shown elsewhere. Although, why is it only in France that the Moguls are being shown on the linear TV channels? The World Feed of the Moguls is on all the versions of the Player, so why are they showing fillers on the linear TV channels?
So much for Eurosport being a "LIVE sport driven channel" (just to explain, this was the excuse that Carlton Kirby always used to give when the daily highlights of the Dakar Rally got shunted about).
Also, it looks like Eurosport will be taking over the PGA coverage in a few years time (press release about deal between PGA and Discovery). So, that is going to leave the schedules of Sky Sports Golf very thin.
But, my worry is that the figure skating could eventually end up on Sky Sports. Because, it is clearly not a priority sport for Eurosport, and Sky is now owned by the same company (Comcast) that owns the broadcaster that has the figure skating rights in America, NBC Universal. So, they may pinch it to try to fill up their schedules. And to make it cheap and cheerful, they would probably just simulcast the American broadcasts.
Scary thought!
And if they do, that will be the end of me watching figure skating on linear TV. Because the Sky prices are ridiculous enough without the extortionate prices they charge for their sports channels.

FS Live has been my source for watching the Grande Prix this year, but doesn't seem to be covering the final. Anyone know why?
NBC 4-6 est. the men. I didn’t know ladies live was on last night. Could folks do reminders in the main folder for nbc and nbcsn. I have had so much including surgery this week. I just watched videos of ladies. So upset I missed it on tv. Which is way better than YouTube iPad. Anyway can we all remind each other? Us old folk sure appreciate reminders!
