For a moment i thought ISU was going to host another one of those sweet livestreams.

It's a shame cause like you said videos from that ladies event in particular are super rare.

2010 was a weird Olympics for me personally, cause none of my favourites from all four disciplines got what they were aiming for, whether it was podium finishing or gold, but there were certainly some surprise performances in there for sure.

It would be so cool if they did for the missing ladies event. Hey Olympic Channel are you reading this???

After watching the men again, I must say that Evan was impressive. His programs, Costuming, and solid performances really made an impression on me. As a Plushy fan, I was hoping things woud have gone the other way but, I can see why the judges went with Evan.

What a joy, watching the whole FS Pairs event again. I had rewatched some of the programmes but not the whole in a very long time. It made me realise how much I miss the SBS Spins in the Free nowadays, but also how I miss the Edge changing spirals (which presumably was a required element then?), On the other hand, I've realised how much the discipline has grown since then, especially in the lower ranks. Sometimes people are talking about the stagnation in pairs, but comparing this event with the 2018 Olympics show clearly how much it has grown since then. So many double axels in the SBS jumps then, and now that's really not enough to be at the top level. Although the sequence of two is still seen of course. Comparing the event to the last WC (2019), you can also see how much the discipline has grown, even if you don't see Quad Throws and -Twists currently. Still, it was an enjoyable watch and the two Chinese Pairs at the top were very special. Thank you Labgoat for making it easy to rewatch this event completely in the easiest way possible. X

it really is amazing how much pairs has grown. Any team in the top 15 would be world medal contenders only a few years back. I also agree, the requirements of past years still hold a lot of charm like side by side spins. I was so happy to finally see the untelevised skaters and put faces to the names. The US had a bad habit of only showing one Canadian pair team for example and I always wanted to see the others too.

When I rewatch I try to put myself back in time before knowing that some of the newer elements did not exist yet. I watch with an eye towards the rules of the time, which is not hard since I have been an avid fan since 1976, having been introduced to the sport in 1972.

My first memory of any FS competition was the OG in 1976 (with Dianne de Leeuw winning Silver), but the memory that stuck with me was Torvill and Dean's Paso Double (still one of my favourites) and Bolero in 1984. I never get fed up with those two skates.

In Pairs - always my favourite discipline - my best memory is Mishkutionok and Dmitriev's Free Skate in 1994 (often rewatch this programme) but Aljona and Bruno managed to pass them by with their wonderful Free Skate in 2018. Nothing to do with the technical part of the programmes, but more with the overall image of those Skates. So enjoyable, so impressive. Obviously there were many great pairs in between, which makes this 2010 OG so great to watch as a whole.

I agree totally with the happiness in seeing all the Pairs, and seeing unknown names coming to the fore. But known names as well - Nicole della Monica who is still skating today though with a different (better) partner, Maxim Trankov very young, and his future partner Tatiana already showing off her great skills, and of course Hao Zhang at his third Olympics.
